Request to Devs - Sirs, any chance to create the entry point for 3rd party Mission Editor execution (similar to WOFF UE)? Thx for your consideration.

That sounds like a great idea JJJ65, but I suspect it might be a bit early in the development cycle as they are just now in first release. They may give you an entry point but ask for you to hold off on release for some time.

Just my personal thoughts so I could be wrong.

Why do you think so, Robert? The Mission Editor can not make any harm to WOTR sale. Just opposite can be true - it can be value added, as any other addons, i.e. custom skins, textures, effects, etc. And the code already exists, just disabled.

I fully agree with you JJJ65 about the value of the mission editor. I am sure they will give you access but there must be a reason they didn't contact you and do it right from the start. Maybe everything is not ready yet. Hopefully I am wrong and they will see this thread and say yes to you.

To be clear I do not ask for any agreement to release Mission Editor or for any access to WOTR code/data. I am asking just for pause in WOTR execution that will enable to start and run Mission Editor (the same as WOFF UE Workshop settings "3rd party Mission Editor").

I understand. Have you sent off a request to support? That may be the thing to do just in case they don't see this thread.

It's pretty early days to be tinkering under the hood. We already had one patch as well. I'm guessing that it would be better to wait for things to settle down in case any early patches would break something like a Mission Editor. It also makes things simpler for new users and probably causes less headaches for support at this point

Let's pretend I got the BWOC badge to embed here.

I hear you and can't disagree Ace, but it wouldn't hurt for the devs to put the entry point into the code to allow JJJ65 to build and test and maybe hold off on releasing it to the general public until the devs agree.

Best Regards

Looks great!
Can you also allocate skins to your flights aircraft?
At the moment we can choose a custom skin in game, but every plane in the flight then has the same skin, it would be good to have the option to give them individual skins.
Hopefully the skin guru's out there can begin producing many skins as per WoFF smile

Unfortunately not (yet). WOTR uses different approach to aircraft models and skins than WOFF. WOFF utilize cloned aircraft as placeholders for different skins (10+ slots per AC type), while WOTR uses only two. We can try the WOFF model - clone aircrat to get more free skin slots and then assign skins to each plane by Mission Editor. Just give me some time, pls. wink

Well I'm amazed, I thought it would be quite some time before we saw any action on this front. (I should have known better)

Wow, that looks cool. Is it possible to use a different base map perhaps, i.e. Filter out the modern road network

The new patch V1.2 (just released) has the persistent weather stats screen coming up so should allow your mission editor to work.

Many thanks for this JJJ. I look forward to setting up your Mission Ed. in WOTR too - I appreciate using it in WOFF where it now allows me to tinker with weather settings, and also the populated/historical airfields aircraft settings.

~ For my various FM/AI/FPS/DM Mods. for First Eagles 2, WoFF, RoF & WoTR, and tips for FlightGear, recommended is to check over my CombatAce profile (https://combatace.com/profile/86760-vons/) and to click on the "About Me" tab while there. ~

JJJ will happen by soon I am sure. I had the same problem and he did some work on the ME and allowed me to test it some. It has worked very well for me now. I do not have the endless load screen anymore. Ade, I am not sure if what I have is the same one as he uploaded recently in the above thread, but I am sure Jara will get you straightened out. A very nice Gent he is, and quite smart to! I altered a mission which I had made in his ME and all of my Squad would take off and then immediately turn around and attempt to land, but each would crash. They were supposed to follow me on the mission, so after literally hours of trying to understand what was wrong, I sent the mission to Jara and asked,"do you see anything wrong? I cannot figure this out. He quickly e-mailed me back, "Yes Drew, I do see what is wrong, it is very simple. You have given each of your Squad Mates 0% petrol. LMAO, I never saw that. So, while I am sure he got a chuckle out of that, and I felt dumb as a rock, I reiterate, 'A very nice Gent he is, and quite smart to. winkngrin

Can you send me your campaign file that cased ME to hang, pls? There were some changes to WOTR's waypoints structure that I could not reveal yet (all) and so are not included in ME. That could help me to solve your issue. Thx.

Oh, Drew, so much praise, that is pretty embarassing. Thx. mycomputer
BTW, I was more concerned how it could happen that ME set your wingmen's fuel quantity to 0 wink . That is still unclear to me.

Just wanted to add that it works perfectly Jara. Is it ok to ask if there's any possibility of "culling" if that's the right word..flights beyond a distance from the player like what you've got in The WOFF ME? Thanks again.
Cheers Adger

Good idea, Ade, I will look into it. However, the number of aircraft in mission is not as high as in WOFF, so, IMHO, the overall impact on FPS/stutter will be negligible.

Thank you Jara, that's surprised me I often thought that WOTR (with its large formations) would have more in the air ..ahh WOFF I'm assuming simulates most of the western front that's why there's more AC about?

Thank you for these updates JJJ - great stuff. I hope to set up some campaigning in WOTR eventually and to enjoy your multi mod and mission ed. in WOTR. Currently have my hands full with WOFF casual campaigning.
