Just putting this out there in case anyone is interested. I use the ButtKicker Gamer for DCS. It adds a great deal to the immersion factor when you can feel the Hornet's catapult stroke off the carrier. They sent me a 20% discount code to share with anyone who wants to use it. Says it expires 10 OCT 2018.

(Full disclosure: they said I will get also $20 if enough people use the code to order. I don't know how many is enough.)

I've had one in use for years and really like the immersion it offers. My first one the amp went out so I bought a second one, I have one mounted to my simpit and the other attached to my home theater couch (awesome for movies). It certainly takes a little tweaking to get it right but well worth it IMO.

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

The "Wireless" is a better unit and will last. Mine is going on 8 years old. Here's a link to my review: http://www.lockonfiles.com/forums/topic/6543-buttkicker-wireless-review/?tab=comments#comment-51056

I've tried to research this but haven't really found the answer......

If your audio is routed through an amp or you use audio over HDMI, can you still get the buttkicker to work?...from what I've seen it all looks analogue to a 3.5mm connector on the motherboard?

Yes, you have to have some sort of analog audio out to plug the Buttkicker amp into. (Don't most motherboards have onboard audio these days?)

Yeah, all motherboards have the 3.5mm connectors however if you use digital audio via optical or HDMI through the graphics card (for hi-fidelity/Dolby/THX surround) I'm struggling to see how I would get it working but I assume its possible as a lot of people have their PCs hooked up via an AV receiver. I'm interested in the buttkicker but not at the expense of bypassing quality audio when in gane.

The other issue with PCs is that they generally only output from one source so if you used the motherboard conection to get the buttkicker working you wouldn't normally have a second output working through a digital interface The big question for me is whether there is a buttkicker with HDMI interfaces?

I don't run my sound through an HDMI interface so I couldn't say for sure, although I'd have to think it wouldn't work as the BK is only analog AFAIK. 99% of my gaming sound is through my USB wireless headset or thru my 5.1 surround. In the case of flight sims I run coms thru the headset and all other sound thru 5.1.

That said I wonder how they plan to upgrade a product to keep up with the future moving more towards digital sound solutions.

I can't recommend this thing enough. Especially if you're simming in VR.
