I don’t care what anyone says, I love this movie and this scene, fuel tanks and all. LOL
Good thread idea especially for SimHQ. There are so many! Great choices already. I love this stuff whether its real aircraft being used when possible or skillfully done model work and practical effects. Some of the CG stuff is good too. I'm not too picky either if accuracy isn't the best as long its not too crazy. I just love seeing the footage or what creative scenes the movie production came up with.
"Flight of the Intruder." Loved all the model work and scenes with the snake eyes dropping.
I always like "Firebirds" even though it can be pretty goofy in a Hollywood way. I love the Apache footage though. I remember trying and usually failing these maneuvers in Janes Longbow 1 and 2.
Another favorite would be everything in "Top Gun" from the real aerial footage to the models. A scene that always sticks out to me though is in the begging when Cougar looses it and Maverick helps him back. All those scenes at dusk with the Tomcat are beautiful and the hard carrier landing and sparks is cool to watch and also sets up how dangerous and extreme carrier aviation is.
Always loved this one from "Clear and Present Danger".

Good topic, well done, this is what I like to see.
Have always thought Flight of the Intruder was a good film and its clips on the AA missile launch and counter measure stuff were ground-breaking visuals in there day.
Nice one.
Normally I would defer to an older movie for this stuff, but Chris Nolans Dunkirk (accurate or not) really gets my win.
The sound of the Merlin engines is incredible and worth it for that alone.
It has lots wrong for accuracy freaks in the exterior shots especially, but oh my word, in the tense of the battle and a dogfight, this is what it must have been like.
Hans Zimmers amazing and appropriate "Heart beat" track helps too.
Almost perfect.

Lots of good ones here, but the scenes from "The Final Countdown" will always be my favorite.
And speaking of the F-14...
I was supposed to be in Pensacola this weekend at the Naval Aviation Museum, but a tightening budget and healing hamstring has me stuck at home.

That Right Stuff Yeager scene has long been one of my favorites.
I saw Dunkirk over the weekend and there's some great spitfire vs 109 footage that uncannily resembles IL-2 Cliffs of Dover in terms of how the aircraft engines sound and the airframes creak.

The Crusader scene from 13 Days always was a good one!
Whatever its faults and exaggerations, I always thought Memphis Belle was a really well-made movie, especially the flying scenes. The takeoff scene, with all five of Europe’s (then) airworthy B-17s supplemented by 1:5 scale RC models, is my favourite. Cinematography, music and all. Tension has been building as the raid nears, and it is finally released as they open the throttles.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

How about the awesome duel at the end of "Firefox"?
