Seriously, will there be a need to belly land? What I mean, is the landing gear damage modelled, so that if it’s hit it will not extend?

OBD is modeling WWII with great accuracy. Belly landings are definately not in there as an e-sport. biggrin

I can already imagine Rick_Rawlings organizing a Belly Landing Challenge once WOTR is available.

Well, there are times when a belly landing is pretty much your only option...
If your gear is damaged or won't lock down, (it will be interesting to know if pumping the gear down by hand is modelled)...
Or your chosen piece of ground to make an emergency landing is unsuitable for a wheels down landing etc... I've seen a few wheels up landings in real life... glad to say no one was injured smile

When you have to go for it you can, but it's tricky to do safely on some of the rough terrain. Yes I had to pump the gear down manually at one point in the Hurricane.

Interesting Pol, without going to the outside view, how can you tell the gear isn’t down? Does the “landing gear not in locked position” indicator work on the cockpit panel?

Not so Silent Hunter. Hellshade, are there any Uboots to be sunk in WOTR?

CFS3 has always had an oil slick special effect.

[Linked Image]

(The images above show the lighter, more transparent/iridescent oil textures provided with the all-in-one effects.xml that Daiwiletti and I put together recently)

Perhaps WOTR will have some additional refinements like oil that trails along in the wake of a wounded ship.

To me it looks like the original texture is still being used in WOTR, as it doesn't blend in very well and creates a discrete black/green blotch on the surface.

I love the reflections in the new cockpit by the way...

Refinements will come in time I'm sure. So much to do and so few devs to do it.
It's amazing what has come along so far.

If WOTR gets good support from sales we can add almost anything, it's Phase1..... (deja vu)

Pol, looks like a perfectly executed 1-point belly landing. Thanks for the pics. What does “Leader Effort 1.00000” in the TAC message mean? Is the flight leader being graded on his performance?
