This is what CFS3 needs to keep going strong. Hard to believe it's such a old sim. Still play one of my 9 installs every day along with IL-2 1946 and the many installs i have for it. Wonder how it will compare to the new IL-2 Great Battles series because it looks pretty awesome too though i don't have them yet but holding out for WOTR. If it is anything like WOFF-UE it ought to be pretty awesome. Regards,Scott

Just a couple of questions.
Will the aircraft be bump mapped? Hard to tell from the pictures.
The aircraft look awfully clean; need more scuffs, guns residue around gun ports; generally a bit more worn.
Is this still going to be using CFS3/WOFF terrain or new improved terrain? Thinking along CLoD lines?

Other than that, I will love the searchlights and other effects I see there.

It's 1940, the craft are fresh out of the factory and some have first flight on them, they should be clean ! THey don't have 50 years on them.

But they do have some wear on them and marks from guns exhausts, scratches and so on - but not the excessive wear as seem in some sims and many of these aircraft were new, or newly replaced so some would be quite fresh as JimBob says. No single wear and tear skin will cope with the entire war supply..

Without giving away anything specific, let me just say that this isn't WOFF UE with a WWII "coat of paint" on it.

Flying without labels brings with it the anxiety of knowing that if you miss seeing one bandit - you could be dead from his guns in an instant if he gets the right hits with his cannons on you. Most of the wear and tear is from the stress and fear that grinds down the pilot. wink

You mean from flying 100 mph in WW1 over the lines, to flying at 300mph in WW2 defending ships or airfields etc, or attacking Britain ? I hope so wink.

It's a new campaign totally geared for the WW2 environment and the BoB period. Very different attacks and tactics from WW1 of course.
AI has lots of new WW2 knowledge, for example like flying the JU87 and performing proper dive bombing whilst trying to hit a moving ship
AI can react differently in certain conditions to WOFF.
DM changes, you can belly land for example now.

However it is still all about single player immersion up in the sky defending your country or attacking with great AI.

Sounds like WOTR will be another superb simulation from OBD.
Awaiting release with bated breath.

You can try to belly land now...but you are taking your life into your hands because it's no easy feat to accomplish. It requires real skill, as does all of the sim.

Pol, if only someone had taken more pics of say..channel raiding ships...we could share them. biggrin

This sounds like the game I've been waiting for since European Air War - can't wait Pol!

Is the belly landing difficult because of the fences?
Seriously, will there be a need to belly land? What I mean, is the landing gear damage modelled, so that if it’s hit it will not extend?
