I'm trying to revisit MWO to get ready for MW5, but got my butt kicked in the solo queue with my old reliables (King Crab and Banshee) so noticed alot has changed...
So I have to figure out the new skill system and unlock the right stuff and trash a bunch of redundant old mechs and build something useful.
Been chatting with Mojo, Feetwet and Snapdad on Discord and it seems like a few of us interested in revisiting but we all have bad memories of the group queue matchmaker.

skill tree- max out survivability, take a few mobility nodes, and then get the radar derp nodes. the rest makes very little difference
i'm still playing and having a blast. the phoenix hawk is the most fun mech i have ever played in the game. not great, but super fun
Thanks for the info @Clydewinder, what build are you running on the PH? I've seen someone running PPCs on it effectively.
yeah IMO it doesnt have enough tonnage to really rock ballistics. all of my best builds are large lasers on the right side and mix of small/med pulse and machine guns on the left. fast engine and max jump jets, and a couple of them have dual AMS. simple left/right builds for the most part but the mobility and speed make it a blast to play.

The skill stuff is weird and overly complex, but I’m giving it a go. Converting historical SP, got some XP I don’t remember and generally starting all of that from scratch. Got my T16000M throttle set up and trying to remember controls. It’s coming back, but I’ve just done the testing maps. I’m sure I’ll get my ass handed to me in a real match. LOL

The historical SP is for the mech line, not each individual variant, right? I see with the MW5 preorder, you get some MC for MWO, and that’s doubled for founders. Beta should be in Aug, full game in Sept. An earlier beta would be nice.
Did they ever fix the crappy matchmaker in the public queue? Last time I played MWO, nearly every game was a 12-0, 12-1, 12-2 or 12-3 stomp. I get angry all day long, but when I'm relaxing, I want to feel calm, peaceful and happy. Losing like that does not help those feeling flourish.

I played some earlier, and although I got stomped, the rounds were pretty even with some good finishes. Of course, that's solo, not groups, so that might be different.

it's per chassis.... so if you have 2 identical mechs ( Stalkers I assume LOL ) that you could buff one out for lasers and buff the second out for missiles
you also don't need to own 3 of a mech type anymore to boost them up.
Great fun last night! we had some great variety of drops in the group queue even and it was great to see you guys make some old mechs work well (@feet/Cataphract 4X, @raw/Warhawk, @mojo/Hunchie 4SP)
Here was the Dragon Flame build I was running which was pretty fun: DGN-FL 2xSnPPC+Ac20

Good times! We missed you Clyde! I think I stole a kill or two, but generally a poor showing. Fun just the same and less frustrating than expected since I already had low expectations. LOL Watch for the influx from the right!
Another fun night on Thu, still managed some good rounds despite running into a few comp teams.... A few rounds uploaded to YT here, first round my sounds cuts out for a bit but comes back...
I'm still playing pretty regularly. My time is evenly divided between BattleTech and MWO.... MW5 just got installed an hour ago so it's a 3 way split now

I'm around and I've been playing a lot here and there. I'm liking MW5 but it isn't a replacement for MWO, just different. If I get frustrated with my main account, I start a new one. Newer players are more fun and they don't play maps the same way every round.
I stopped playing when they nerfed small lasers into the dirt. The game had okay balance before that, and the small lasers were fantastic secondary weapons before the nerf. That was a couple of years ago. I miss the game, but not the PUGs.
MWO could benefit immensely from MW 5's procedural map generation system. Can you imagine every drop being unique? No more NASCAR.

ABSOLUTELY.
I have long thought that a couple really simple things they could have done were: randomize base & starting locations and make the enemy and undiscovered cap points not show on the map until they are scouted and locked by a friendly player. Make light mechs scout again.

Chromehounds had huge maps and each team had a choice of 2-4 starting location options. The team leader would choose where the base would be and the rest would still be there, but unoccupied. If the enemy wanted to take out your base, they had to find it first. It was a great system and the maps were big enough to support that with the bases being a long way from each other.
Been getting some drops in for the last few weeks.
Weeded through my mechs, too. Why did I have 3 Shadow Hawk chassis?
I had some Mech Creds from a long time ago so I bought 2 hero mechs during the holiday sale, a Shadow Hawk and a Mad Dog. Then picked up a Timber Wolf and C-Hunchback II during the C-Bill sale yesterday.
Trying a few new things, but there is definitely a drag to not playing with buds.
Probably won't spend any more money on this game, will upgrade my rig Holiday 2020, then grab MW5 after the rebuild.

So I got a "soft upgrade" already. I got a used workstation from my office earlier this year that that has beefier specs, but the video card (a Quadro K4200), while excellent for AutoCAD, was unable to play even light 3D games. It would overheat, I think, and make my screen blank.
I recent upgraded my GPU to a GTX 1650 and it is doing much better.
Re-installed MWO again and although I wasn't able to get a drop in to check quality I can tell a massive improvement in the mech bay.
Hey! I'm just getting started playing. Building a mech pit. Long time MW fan but have a comp for the first time in a decade that can run such things. How do I find y'all online?
