Apparently, a lot of devs have chose to "spy" on your activities outside of the game.

Odd that they have an article claiming to know of a lot of games that have it but they don't bother to simply list them, other than a few. Seems a little click-baity.

Yeah, kinda click-baity. They listed Malware Bytes as a solution. Actually, I finally paid for the upgrade for MWB this year and, it says nope, not here.

Gonna have to get serious about privacy I guess. More and more sites are not allowing me to use my ad blocker, So what, I don't care that much about them anyway.

I would think there is a big market niche to be filled by an intelligent non-intrusive advertising service for sites...but I may be giving the average web user way too much credit for awareness with that. They'd actually have to monitor it and be sophisticated enough to keep the hackers at bay.

The ads on this place at one time made it unusable for me....seriously a slide show. The main reason I got an ad-blocker. There has to be an alternative to being bombarded with crap ads and spam.

I always use the amazon link here whenever I am gonna use my Amazon account to try and offset my ad blocking.

I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

Not surprised that something like this exists; surprised, that so many developers apparently saw no problem whatsoever with it. Too many people still don't value their privacy at all.
WRT the article - click-baity or not, at least it contains specific advice for removal, that alone makes it worth sharing.

I recently purchased Warhammer 2, and did so only after Red Shell was reported to have been removed. I didn't look however to see if it actually was. The presence of the software had been enough to keep me from buying it before then though.

Sorry for the "click bait" link. It's affected some top games.

In a free to play game...I would expect something like this. But when AAA titles are using it, it's a slap in the face. The Total War series for example...you're paying full price plus a lot of DLC whoring...I don't need my data outside the game raped as well.

I'll definitely be replaying Alien Isolation. I always enjoy wetting my pants. biggrin

For my second playthough I won't make the same dumb mistake again of walking around slowly in crouch mode all over the station for the early levels of the game since the alien's first appearance is scripted anyway. DOH.

Did you play on the hardest difficulty? "Normal" was plenty of a challenge for me.

normal - because of the Working Joes, they become hard to avoid and kill.
