I just bought a new card and am planning on finnally buying Lo-Mac. I've got a 1.8ghz processor and an ATI Radeon 9800 AIW Pro, but I only have 256megs of RAM, which I'm planning on upgrading soon. But for now with what I have, can anyone suggest some options for me?

If I were I would try out the standard 'medium' setting for now and see how that goes. You might have to still turn down a coupld of things. Also, keep your resolution at the default 1024x768 as there is a bug with the clouds which will make them disappear. Don't know if this bug is fixed in Flaming Cliffs.

I personally wouldn't bother with LOMAC with only 256 MB of RAM. It may run but I'll guarantee you bad stutters. Get at least another 256MB, better more.

Thanks for the help, I think I'm going to DL the demo again and see if I can work it out. How stable is that compared to the full game? Is it OK to use that to tweak settings

While the demo does a decent job of letting you know what Lock On is all about and how it flies, I wouldn't use it for specific tweaking purposes; the full game has changed wuite a bit since the demo was packaged.

i have a ge force 2 MX 400, and im running on everything on high settings, except the water, cos for this old technologie it makes no diference, the water still looks dull for me, a pity cos the pacific fighter and FB water is really sweet in my video card, the only problem i had were the maverivk TV mfd, but its a bug i think cos sometimes it works sometimes it does not,my clouds are high or detailed and i havent got this disapearing problem, although i think theres a few clouds in some missions.
so take a guess if it runs smooth ( except when strafing, the smoke on the ground cause a little lag,not much but does) in your sistem it should turn out very well, i felt no diference usint terrain pre load, at 20, 50 or 100 km, the effect seems the same so i use at 20 km to preserve some RAM, i have 1 Gb by the way. (i think its my ram who is taking all that, not my GF but whatever the important is it to run smooth) hhehehehe

It's not a bug; you are using a DirectX 7 compliant video card, and Lock On requires a DX8 compliant card to work properly.
