I read this almost 40 years ago and for the life of me I can't remember the title or who wrote it.

What I do remember involved a young boy who I believe had been sold into slavery and was being transported to a farming or mining colony to work along with several other people.
The irony of the story was that his family had been killed and he actually was rich and had owned the ship or shipping company that transported him to the space colony.

I know it's thin but does anyone remember a story like that one?

You pretty much explained the plot for the game, "Privateer 2" so you might need to add more details.

Heinlein "Citizen of the Galaxy" is the one.

"You'll never take me alive" said he,
And his ghost may be heard if you pass by that billabong
"Who'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me?"

Thanks Max.
I just read some synopses of the book and most of it sounds correct. I will need to see if I can find a copy. Even if it isn't the same one it does look to be an interesting read.

I'm sure it's on kindle.

I've resisted for many years, including the time my bro gave me a spare kindle reader. I never even opened it. Books all the way smile

I’m a diehard convert. All books, audiobooks on one app or device...or all of your devices. Easier on the eyes, no bookshelves needed, buy anytime, don’t have to hold it open...love it!
I get it though, it isn’t for everybody.

I sort my library between "hard" and "soft" books. Any fiction (generally) is bought on kindle, whereas any history or technical stuff is in hard copy. I have over 1700 titles on my kindle and have even bought kindle copies of selected technical books too large to take anywhere outside the house, say on holiday. I had a huge collection of science fiction in hard copy and am in the process of getting rid of them for kindle copies.

I agree about anything technical or instructional. If I’ll be looking things up or flipping back and forth figuring something out, I want it in print.
You can’t put a binder or paper clip on a kindle book to flip around quickly between key pages.

I read Citizen of the Galaxy recently while reading a bunch of Heinlein. I love his stuff! smile
