Detroit - in the Danger Zone!
It is times like these, when you have finally knuckled down and done something you should have done years prior, that you remember where you came from and that, perhaps, the people there might be interested in what you've been up to. It is in that spirit that I say hello again to the old crowd at the SimHQ forums, even though it has been quite a few years.

So, you might be asking, what has Goodwood done this time that has prompted his return?

Well, I don't know how many of you might know, or remember, that I had been working on an historical fiction novel taking place in World War II. The first draft was written from 2002 to 2004, with the intervening years involving significant changes and revisions as I experimented with writing fiction for other sites and, yes, fandoms. That experience was tremendously helpful in the ongoing process of improving one's writing, and now, I am proud to say, I have finally taken that final leap and have successfully had my novel, The Crop-Duster's Son, published. Yes, it is only by going through Amazon that this has been possible, but at this point, I am more than happy with the experience and result. The book is available both as an eBook and in paperback format.

So, how has everyone been doing? Enjoying the 73rd VE Day?

Sup man. Not much simming anymore myself. In fact, completely done with PC gaming. Still do PS4 Xbox One stuff but more offline stuff really.

Only come to the forums here to post in CH once in a while and to say hi to the old crowd. Sadly...simming crowd in general is a dying breed and thr forums here also reflect that.

Personal wise...got married over 4 years ago, got a toddler running around and she's a handful...part of reason i have so much less time to game. But its all good. Wouldn't change a thing.

My favorite comparison to make is between PC simming and opera. Both are largely stagnant forms of entertainment which are both experiencing shrinking participants since both have failed to acquire new and younger people.

Nice to see an 'old face' back here; you did sometimes 'fly' with me in Sim123 during the glory days of the old IL2, utilising your superb skins.

I will look forward to reading your book! Nice hat in your profile on Amazon by the way smile

As you'll soon see, I do look back on my time in Sim123 fondly. Someone please tell Aces High and the rest of the gang that I said hello, if you can...

Welcome back, nice to see a face from ye olden days smile

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Looks like we need to take up a collection for you here on SimHQ. We can't allow veteran flight simmers to fall by the wayside. smile

Did you use to hang out at hyperlobby for a time?? I seem to recall seeing you there back in the IL2 days

Thank you m8, but sadly I never did get a Failbook account (and never will). I don't trust Zuckerberg as far as I can throw him, particularly given Failbook's policies regarding speech and content.

Oh yes, I was quite the Hyperlobby lurker (and occasional sim pilot). I have Cliffs of Dover, but haven't fired it up in years; my rig could probably handle BoS, but there's not really any interest any longer. frown
