Waiting for a sale in 2023 when it's at least 50% done. If it happens that soon....
Naa, kidding - won't buy any of those based on their track-record to date.
Will never pre-buy again for same reason.

Based on what I've seen/read on the state of the early access, I am going to purchase. It's good enough for me to get my money's worth. WVR combat and dumb bombs are what I enjoy the most. BVR and fancy guided weapons are not that critical to me.

Who all is getting the F-18 and Persian Gulf Map? Did you pre-purchase or will you wait for a sale? I pre-purchased both because it seemed like it would be a few years before a sale price would be cheaper than the pre-purchase price. I am honestly on the fence on this one. It was easier to say no to other modules because I wasn't really that interested in those aircraft and with the state of DCS, it made it much easier to stay away. The Hornet has a special place in my simming history -- Jane's F/A-18 was my first study sim and spent many, many hours just practicing carrier quals until I could do it in stormy weather in the middle of the night. However, does ED deserve my support now when they are clearly at a point where they haven't earned it? One part of me is saying why buy 30% of a module for $60? I would happily buy 90% of a module for $80, so is the cheaper price worth the early access? That same part of me is wondering if I'm better off not buying the Hornet early as the development it will go through AFTER beta release may annoy me so much as to put me off the entire module altogether. Given ED's history of sales, I suspect the Hornet will be on sale by 2020 and would be at an acceptable level of development by then. It only needs a 25% off sale event to get back to current pricing and ED does a lot of 30% off sales or more. So do I pay now for the honor of testing the Hornet module and watching it grow? Or do I pay later and get more for my money?

I am similarly motivated here. My first sim was Graphic Sim's Hornet 2.0 on a Mac (was really something like a FC3 "lite" sim). Spent soooo many hours playing that. Practicing carrier traps, goofing around flying low, flying fast, dropping snake eyes all over the place... oh, and completing missions of course. It was an F/A-18C modeled there, but LGBs were used like regular dumb bombs, and maverick and HARM usage was very simplified. If you look at the current state of the DCS F-18C, it's almost got all the features I used way back then. It's like I can go back to playing Hornet 2.0 with shiny new graphics, more bells and whistles, and even more bells and whistles to come later. Even if it takes a long time to flesh out (or some of them never come), I can't see myself not getting my $60 worth out of this...

Based on the state you know it will be in on release, will it really be an honour to test it? I've learned by my mistakes too many times with DCS.....when they finish modules then I'll entertain it.

Based on the state you know it will be in on release, will it really be an honour to test it? Haha!! Someone missed the sarcasm on that one! Force10, can we have a [sarcasm] tag or font? Even if it takes a long time to flesh out (or some of them never come), I can't see myself not getting my $60 worth out of this... Oh, that's not the issue at all. $60, $80, that's not a problem. I'd happily pay more for a good sim. It's the idea of supporting a product at 30% completion with god-knows-how-long development time that's the issue. If ED would come out and say that dev time from beta to 80-90% feature complete would be 1 year or 1.5 years, I'd pre-order straight away! (that's obviously ignoring the truth about ED's track record of meeting deadlines; for argument's sake, I've given them the benefit of doubt)

No from me on both
F-18C, will wait until it is more complete (sick of paying for empty promises from ED)
Gulf, pretty much usefull for SP only, until ED give us a dedicated server or start giving free keys for dedicated MP hosters only, hardly any servers will have it on a good day there are only 3 servers with Normandy running ... 3

No purchase here. I will wait and see what comes of this new map and aircraft. Spending extra, since I will miss out on the pre-purchase doesn't matter a single bit to me.

So I am guessing maybe 5-8 years down the road. By then I probably won't be interested in study sims though, so just put me down for pretty dam for sure maybe, NO. BigDuke, just buy the SU33 a lot cheaper and all of the avionics are there and you can take off and trap on the Russian carrier to your hearts content. S!Blade<><

Will never pre order again after DCS ww2 mess.
It looks a good fun module but out of principle no way.
