Hi, Just wanted to put this up in case anyone's looking to get rid of hardware. I am (almost always) interested in PC hardware, mostly parts I can re-build PCs with and re-home the finished product. Mostly I am looking for GPUs, perhaps some CPUs, sometimes motherboards and memory. For each of these, anything in the respective age/model range listed: GPUs - 10-, 9, and 7 series; generally nothing below a "50" model (i.e., GTX 950 or GTX1050) and only cards with 2G RAM or more, if you please CPUs - "Core" series i5 and i7, all the way back to 3rd gen (like i7-3770 or i5-3450) through 4th-gen (like i7-4790k); would consider 1st gen i7 if at the top end (that is, 6-core 980x or above). Also might consider 5th gen and newer stuff, if the price is exceptionally competitive. Memory - mostly DDR3 1333+ Motherboards - as would support the CPUs above; chipsets Z68, Z77, Z87, Z97 or H-series (H61, H81), possibly Q or B-series. Like the 1st gen Core CPU's, would consider X58-based boards if exceptional features/price. I should also mention that I do this almost entirely as a hobby. To be specific, while I do offer the stuff I rebuild for sale, I make so near nothing as to call it effectively zero. I endeavor to get out of it what I have in it, that's about it. This isn't a business, to speak of - I am not in it for profit or a livelihood; I'd starve The reason I say all this now is to be perfectly forthcoming about what I'm doing, and any offers I might make. Kindly note I can't offer "retail", and will usually try for a better deal than the going rate, because I have to very conservative about what I pay for parts. Although I'm not making anything, I do have some costs to cover - any consumables I might use (shop supplies), the hit on my electric bill from burning in an overclocked i7-980x (and the AC running to offset the heat there from *lol*), those infernal cans of air... Kindly note: I look for things that are genuinely exceptional bargains, it's the only way I can afford to do this. So I'm probably not going to offer what things sell for on an auction site. (But I'm also not going to expect to find a brand new $500 graphics card for <$200, either.) If someone prefers to get retail or 'going rate' price on the hardware they have to sell, I would happily encourage them to consider an auction site like eBay. Hopefully, I can be looked upon as a better alternative, in that I offer immediate, cash payment, strive for zero hassle to the seller, and I also have done business with quite a few folks here at SimHQ, so I hopefully enjoy a solid reputation - I definitely encourage potential sellers to inquire with any of the fine folks I've named over on the "good traders' thread. I'm not some unknown stranger on an auction site, and you're also not paying any fees to sell to me PM me if you want to discuss further. Thank you

Might be a good idea to list your location and how much you're willing to pay for shipping.

Sorry, I just meant whether you were aware of and willing to discuss deals with possible sellers from outside the USA, or if that just made it too much hassle/cost.

LOL OK, now I see (I wondered, but thought, well...OK... ) You just gotta hate snooty Americans who cannot be bothered to consider the whole rest of the big blue marble, huh? I'd be willing to discuss anything with anyone who has a reasonable presence/reputation here at SimHQ. Objectively, the price of shipping might preclude trading overseas, but I don't see any harm in asking/discussing. Whenever I'm putting some sort of deal together, I usually mention that I'd rather make a friend than a sale any day. So, in keeping with the idea that none of this is really about profit, if we cannot reach an equitable agreement, I'll offer a handshake and wish you all the best

Just wanted to clarify. Some people prefer to buy/sell only on the Continental US for.... many reasons, shipping included. As for your sons, lucky you. Mine are 15 and 9 and they get my hand-me-downs but unfortunately, that means £0.00 for me.

lol You actually used the same term I do: "rolling upgrades" (through the family). Yup, that's the idea. And, in same cases, it means that the machine down at the end of the line gets 're-homed'. Too bad about your old 6600 but I do feel your pain. It breaks my heart that I have all this hardware that was once so powerful and valued by so many...now just gathering dust. But, in some ways, that's what lead me into my 'hobby'; the idea that I could maybe re-purpose those parts/machines. And you know, why not? After all, just because it's not up to today's level of sim duty, doesn't mean it can't be useful for browsing, email, homework, basic office work like letters, spreadsheets, etc. And you know, I've done the SLI thing so many times (don't get me started lol) and it's really another heart-breaker, but I also often ran into problems with this or that...man, what really great performers, though. Not long ago I put two older 770 4G cards into a rig for one of the games the boys play (PUBG) and it was fantastic...the benchmark scores for this setup were better than any other setup I have here, except my own 1070Ti. But I never could get it stable, just kept crashing at random. So, much as I hated it, I gave it up

Could always ship it PhilPost, but you'd never see it......Odd how Balikbayan is always the safer method LOL, what makes you say that? I don't have to sell it back home, I could eBay it here if I wanted to, but like I said, it usually goes to the boys. My eldest used to have his PC but then I bought a gaming laptop and now he uses that and the youngest uses the PC. Unfortunately, I don't upgrade often enough that I could sell the end-of-the-line parts.
