Beautiful!

One has to walk right up to a Corsair to fully appreciate just what a large aircraft it is.

First time I did it rang true that many an Ensign was intimidated by it when first flying one.

I walked from a Cessna 150 I had just flown in, to touching distance of a P-47N when I was a very low time private pilot. Wow! eek

It was HUGE!!!!

Corsair: Still my grandson's favourite aircraft smile

They dumped off a Fairy Gannet at Wick airport for the fire crew to use for training, it was huge too but it didn't last long once the fire crew got their teeth into it, but it is a multi crew for ASW/AEW

Yep it was a lifelong hope finally realized to get that close to a Corsair. I can't find that darn footage of the Bearcat though. I'll keep looking.

Keep looking biggrin

Worked at a few airshows, over the years and managed to get up close to some of the aircraft and crews, not many opportunities for taking pics or video though. best was meeting the Red Arrows team at the Goodwood Festival of Speed after being beside their commentator during their display.

Found my photos. I have no Bearcat video from Farnborough, just stills.

Edit: I did find some more Skyraider and Bearcat from Abbotsford 2016.

Posts like your remind me how lucky I am since I can get up close and personal with several aircraft at Planes of Fame every weekend.

Great pictures/video, thanks for sharing them.

A flight of Jet Provosts in the background there too smile

Was at Farnborough in 2004 as a spectator but got taken there by a guy that worked for BAE and got roped into helping push a Spitfire and Hurricane out to the flight line for static display.

Not the same Farnborough as yours tho smile

I really miss being able to go wander around those old warbirds, now I have to make do with watching the F-16s from the local airbase as they come and go.
