There are so many shows that lasted one season (or less!) that I was interested in and started watching that it is tough to start any new ones until you know you get a 2nd season or a clear resolution, ugh.
I remember one called Nicodemus Legend with Richard Dean Anderson that I remember liking as a kid and I don't think it lasted long or had a second season. I remember it being good fun but I suppose I'd need to find it on Youtube or something to see if it is how I remembered. He seemed to be sort of an Old West, tech savvy MacGyver.
I don't remember this one but it reminded me of another one season "western" that I enjoyed

btw here is the pilot to Legend - terrible quality but I will check it out later
I think the trouble with Firefly is that it became a monster hit after it was cancelled. If it had the same followers then as now it might still be on! Like Star Trek. Hard to believe, now, since it's so popular, but I don't think Star Trek was doing so well in the ratings department. One show I was surprised to see cancelled after one season was Invasion. I'm sure some of you saw it. Took place in Florida and involved Aliens landing and taking over human bodies. I really got into that show.

Star Trek Enterprise was indeed not doing well and its ratings dropped significantly after the first season. It was the first Star Trek show to not make it to 7 seasons since TOS!

No, I think the original Star Trek only lasted three seasons. That's the one I'm talking about. It became a bigger hit after it was cancelled and of course led to movies, spin offs...etc.

Starcops (a police force in the early days of our expansion into the solar system... Very intelligent stories at times)
Strange (a defrocked priest turned demon hunter)

Got ya! I made the assumption that you were talking about the most recent Trek show that was cancelled. Speaking of ST:TOS, it is truly unprecedented for a show that was originally cancelled after 2 seasons to have spawned so many successful movies and spinoff tv shows.

Now I know that the third season of ST:TOS was pretty bad, but it did exist.

Season 3 was definitely the weakest of the TOS seasons but there are still some golden episodes in there. "The Enterprise Incident", "Day of the Dove" and "The Tholian Web" are all excellent IMHO.

That was a decent show, but he was an excellent Flash. They’ve had people from that show on the new one. Shipp played Barry’s dad, but also a Flash from another Earth. The Star Labs scientist lady played a CEO of a Star Labs competitor. Mark Hamil reprised his Trixster. I think there was another, but I forget who.

Just like Space: Above and Beyond, Firefly got preempted from its normal time slot too many times to get a loyal following.

I had never heard of Firefly until it had been cancelled. Poor promotion on their part.

I do remember seeing enough of the new show to know Shipp was his dad. I saw him in a prison scene (don't spoil anything for me, I'll eventually go back and watch it). I also heard about Mark Hamill being on it... that's another thing that'll have me watch it eventually. I ought to go through it before baseball season starts. If the Braves are on, I'm watching, unless it's a west coast game and I'm working the next day.

The actress that played Trixsters sidekick, kind of Harley Quinn-like, was on this season reprising her role. I can’t remember the actresses name, but she was on just about everything in the 80’s.

I seen the first episode and thought "this is good", the same weekend I met my future wife and Firefly was put on a back shelf, it was years later before I seen the rest of Firefly when I bought the boxed set of blurays.

Same here. A good friend of mine from SimHQ introduced me to the show. I actually saw the film "Serenity" in the theater before I saw any of the episodes!

Same here Panzer. I was told I would need to watch the series first to understand the film, however I found that the film stood up on its own. I've re-watched the film 2 or 3 times now but watching the series once was enough for me.
