What are some of the best shows you've seen that only lasted one season or less? There are several that come to my mind:
1. Firefly
2. Crusade (spinoff from Babylon 5)
3. Space Above & Beyond
4. Caprica (spinoff from Battlestar Galactica)
caveat: Do not include any miniseries like Band of Brothers.

I remember one called Nicodemus Legend with Richard Dean Anderson that I remember liking as a kid and I don't think it lasted long or had a second season. I remember it being good fun but I suppose I'd need to find it on Youtube or something to see if it is how I remembered. He seemed to be sort of an Old West, tech savvy MacGyver.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet. I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

Definitely. Seems like they've tried to recreate it a few times since as well.
Also Constantine. He's been worked into the Arrowverse some, with appearances on Arrow and Legends. They need to bring the live action show back properly, but I think now they're doing an animated version. Still with Matt Ryan doing the voicework. FYI, he was the main character in Assassin's Creed Black Flag that was so well received, partly due to his work.
Others I have enjoyed that were cancelled or cut short
BBC's Outcasts, it was cancelled just as the plot started to get intriguing and left me cursing that so much was left unresolved, it was a slow starter but by the last couple of episodes showed it had much promise. Ben Richards the writer of the series has said that he would write a novel to follow on from the last episode but I've not seen anything about it, he did go on to part write The Tunnel* which was a French/English collaboration about murder with the channel tunnel as a link - great show had both my wife and myself hooked.
Also enjoyed Terra Nova, interesting drama pity it went nowhere.
I'll also echo PM's Crusade and Space Above and Beyond, Crusade I have on DVD and give it an airing every now and then. I'm not a fan of Battlestar Galactica, I have Blood and Chrome sitting on my DVR waiting to be watched... it has been on there for nearly a year now
Edit: * Seems like there was a second and third series made but never shown here, the premier of the second series coincided with the terrorist attacks here, now I have been instructed to go find the new episodes

Similar is an understatement! Dark Skies also had a male and female lead and it had lots of shadowy government conspiracies.
Check out this old VHS cover. Do the two lead stars look familiar to two famous characters from another contemporary show?
