Our kitchen was wired by a moron. 2 lights, 4 switches. but split up on 3 walls for some reason. If all 4 aren’t in the right position you can’t have both lights on. Flip one, one light goes on, not the other. Flip another, they reverse. Another and nothing happpens. It’s like some stupid, obnoxious puzzle out of a video game so you can progress. I know what to do but no one else here seems to, so they leave the lights on however they land, and I have to go around the damNED kitchen flipping switches on three walls just to get the lights on right.

Pointless OCDs are amusing.
You guys would go insane in my apartment. There's a wall switch that does nothing in my living room. Management doesn't even know what it was supposed to do and clipped the wires.
I like to imagine it turns a lamp on and off in the apartment below mine. “In my house there's this light switch that doesn't do anything. Every so often I would flick it on and off just to check. Yesterday, I got a call from a woman in Madagascar. She said, 'Cut it out.'” - Steven Wright

Why is it that if you shave the hair off of part of your arms, it only grows back to a certain length? How does it know when to stop? Which brings up the question of why that doesn't happen with the hair on your head/face, with eyebrows and eyelashes being the exceptions. Until you reach a "certain age" when you will get the odd rogue eyebrow hair that pops out an extra half inch overnight. And let us not talk about the ear hairs...

I think I am already at, or approaching, that age. I did not mention ear, or nose, hair on purpose. Eyebrow hair is not a problem yet.

I like to imagine it turns a lamp on and off in the apartment below mine. I can guarantee it was for a switched electrical outlet that someone did not rewire correctly when they replaced it. It's highly common for someone not to break the tab on the hot side of the electrical outlet so the switch doesn't do anything even when the person wires the electrical outlet since both outlets always have power if that tab isn't broken. Management is just being lazy since it would require opening up every electrical outlet in your living room to find the one that should be switched. Wheels

I like to imagine it turns a lamp on and off in the apartment below mine. A friend worked at the local steel mill as an IT-go-to-fixer kind of guy about 15 years ago. He once found an old dusted over PC from the eighties that periodically used an old modem. Nobody had any idea what it did, and there was no documentation. Turned out the machines it was supposed to talk to were disconnected ages ago. But nobody at the other end had dared to disconnect it!

How do rockets keep from hitting debris when they enter space?

Space is big. Very big. Even with 10k or more bits of debris in orbit the odds of hitting any is very slim.

LOL @ light switches!
The house we rented in Georgia had the "mystery combination" bank of three switches. At one point it pissed me off and I re-wired them to knock it off.
Our house here has a "useless" switch in the living room that took me awhile to figure out. It's for the light on the ceiling fan, if we ever put in a ceiling fan with lights on it.
Back on topic:
As a man, if I grow my hair long and gather it together in one single large strand in the back of my head, I'm being cool and masculine. It's in no way a pony tail that makes it look like I'm trying to be fun and perky.
But split it in two and put them on the sides of the head, and suddenly it's pigtails and somehow unmanly.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

LMAO Pugio. I'm waiting for NH2112 to post his thoughts. That’s an old joke here. Q: how do you know the toothbrush was invented in Maine? A: because anywhere else it would have been called a teethbrush. But my favorite is: Q: what do you call a pretty girl in Maine? A: a tourist.
