Hi,
I don't know any modern american history high school teachers, but I wanted to share an idea for a class project that I think would be fun and cool.
1) Take Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire" song and make the kids dissect each line and learn about the history of each line.
2) When step 1 is done, the kids then need to make up the "next" verses of the song - one verse for each decade since the original song was written. They can debate which historical and social facts are the best to include in the verses.
To me it would be a cool and fun way to learn history.
I guess if you are a history teacher, just drop me a message if you use the idea - it would be cool to know.
Thanks!
