I have DCS World 2.5.0. 14044 installed; DCS World Open Beta 2.5.0. 14044 installed; and DCS World 2 Open Alpha 2.2.0 12843 installed; Which can I delete and which should I keep as a back up? Or, do I need a backup at all?

My understanding is that 2.5.0 Beta is the latest install. I had 2.2.0 and the latest 1.5 installed and the 2.5 install "seamed" to combine every thing I had installed in 2.2.0 Alpha into 2.5.0. I have now deleted my other installs and just use the 2.5.0 install, that is when I have the time. If want to keep the other install as a back up that should be ok.

Thanks Taxman, that's what I needed. The world 2.5 and the OB appear to be the same just named slightly differently. I think that is because of the origin of each. World 2.5 was upgraded from my previous build, but I DL OB direct from DCS page.

They are exactly the same version. You just installed it two different ways. The OB is the only version of v2.5 that exists at the moment.

Unless I'm mistaken, people should only have two versions now... 1.5.8 and 2.5 Open Beta.

I don't understand what's so hard to understand about branches having version numbers and not version numbers having branches.

Yeah, you're probably right......can you get in touch with ED and educate them with regards how NOT to make a complete pigs ear of their development and integration activities because they have always hemorrhaged resources. The split branches of recent times was an absolute calamity. Bearing in mind it was originally done in order to get a limited 2.x release out to their customers and just look at the state of the 2.5 beta 2 years later and 5 years late in total.

Thanks, cichlidfan. That's what I thought. I will clear up some space tonight as I try to eliminate CTDs. However, it looks great, when it runs.

Yes, it does. It's beautiful, actually. But, it makes you work for it. First it has to freeze at least once. And then you have to be patient enough to sit through the loading times. I mean, really. I've waited for a while, then decided to get up and get myself a cup of coffee. Waited for the water to boil, poured a cup, grabbed a few chocolate chip cookies and came back. WTF! It was still loading. I know there's a lot to load, but damn.
Still, it does look nice and when its's running right, the flying down low is pretty cool. There is really a sense of speed. And up high the feeling of flight is very realistic. I hope they get the problems worked out because when I just feel like flying a quick mission before going to bed, this isn't the one I jump into. My wife would probably find me still sitting here in the morning...with DCS 2.5 still loading.
