SW the Last Jedi John Wick 2 Logan
Because I enjoyed them as much or more than expected, and was interested enough to go to the theater. Wish we had Zack Snyder’s Justice League, that probably would’ve made the list.

I have to disagree with "Get Out." I thought it was very overrated, I thought that the interracial thing was a bit cliche, and that the African-American characters could who had so much potential ended up in the end being sterotyped. I also found the ending predictable. The movie was good, just not 100% Fresh like Rotten Tomatoes said it was. "The Last Jedi" I thought was pretty good, but after viewing I do see that it had the potential to be better but probably missed its mark because of Disney. But I liked it anyway enough to see it twice. This article that I found laid it out pretty well: https://www.vox.com/culture/2018/1/12/16834684/the-last-jedi-lost-its-nerveI really enjoyed Blade Runner 2049...I actually bought it when it came out last week. 3 movies I really liked in 2017 (besides Jedi and Blade Runner): 1. "Dunkirk" 2. "Thor: Ragnarok" 3. Tie: "Logan" and "Wonder Woman" Honorable Mention: "Happy Death Day." v6, boNes

Get Out got a revamped ending. Originally it had a dark ending, with someone else driving up. The director/writer (Jordan Peele) felt that was too much, too negative so he rewrote it. I agree. Sometimes you need to let the audience leave with a win. LOL I liked it because the main character WASN’T stereotyped IMO. In most cases, the guy turns out to be an “ex-special forces soldier” and “they tangled with the wrong guy!” I swear Hollywood thinks there must be 100’s of thousands of retired SEALs etc running around. I liked this guy because he wasn’t a fighter. His edge came from being a photographer. He had an eye for detail, he was very perceptive. The girl had to be good at what she did to pull this off with him as long as she did. I like it when the hero is smart rather than just physically overpowering. That’s harder to write. They did a good job of following him noticing things and putting it together, rather than having a Sherlock Holmes moment where he explains everything but they didn’t show you the character during discovery phase. He also wrote a movie that was about people, clearly of one race, taking advantage of people of another race, mentioning racial issues throughout, but still managed to do so without it feeling like a slap in the face to everyone of the same race as the offenders. That is one heck of a balancing act and it resulted in a great flick, enjoyable without targeting an audience regardless of their own race. Just my .02.

Bright on Netflix was really good too. Green light on a sequel as well.

1. "Dunkirk" - loved how such an enormous large scale event was brought down to a very personal level. 2. "The Last Jedi" - for the sheer entertainment, quality story line and funny references to past SW events. 3. I don't have a 3rd really.
Cheers, Slug
