What do you use to share pics? I miss how easy it was with Photobucket

I'm using flickr but can only post links

I put them all in a page in Blogger (google photos) and copy links off of that. I don't use very much anyway.

Thanks Ice, so you cannot post images just the link?

Marc,

Try adding .jpg to the end of the link inside of the bracket. If that doesn't work, which with your link there I tried and It doesn't, try to right click on the image is IN your browser in whatever Google app you're in, and hit the view image tab on the context menu, then past that link in the brackets. Other than that I suggest Imgur for quick image hosting. Similar to photobucket.

It worked smile Imgur works like photo bucket, which is great

Thanks a bunch

Use imgur for crying out loud... free, stable for the long haul, embeds... what else so you want?

Please stop using terrible services like photobucket (flikr sucks too), it sucks for embeddding on a lot of sites and eventually your posts will end up worthless once they yank the hosting out from under you. Terrible pic hosting is the death of far too many cockpit/sim posts because people don't seem to realize they take your pics down if you don't pay the ransom at some point.

ha ha - a bit harsh but all too true. I can't tell you how many times the PERFECT example of something I am trying to do with anything (working on car, electronics whatever) was documented but all the images are gone now! So far imgur hasn't done that to us!

I have two issues with imgur. The first one is that when I upload a pic to imgur, there's no way to arrange my pics or control distribution. From what I understand, you essentially chuck it into the pool of other pictures and they give you a link.... but your pic can now turn up on random searches or be displayed on their webpage. I don't like that.

Second one is their rules
Quote
Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge – or if you do anything illegal, in addition to any other legal rights we may have, we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com. We mean it.

With my blogger and Google photos, I am in control (slightly) of my pics. It definitely doesn't turn up randomly on some site sharing "cool pics." While my photos are essentially in one pool in Google photos, I am able to arrange/sort my pics via my blogger pages, sort of like folders in Photobucket. So while imgur is cool for the odd pic or so, I prefer my method so I can sort my pics into Simpit pics, Falcon 4 pics, Random Useless Memes pics, etc.

IMO the only drawback of imgur is the 400 pic limit for a freebie account... I'm on my third since 2012 because of that -but- all my cockpit posts across the web are still intact where so many others became wastelands of ransom notes lol.

There are privacy settings where you can choose to keep your content private except where you choose to link it and for organizing pics, you can make albums in a few formats that allow titles, captions, links, and a header explanation but you could also just use it to group your pics intro relevant subsections (those don't count towards the 400 limit either).

Once you're logged into your account, if you hover the cursor over your user name a dropdown menu appears, Albums is the second option on the list, but I don't see options for different formats anymore. Here's an example of an imgur album I made for the *sealed Hall pots I make https://imgur.com/a/WkQtw

At the bottom of the same dropdown is where the settings are, where you can choose to set your albums private or public but by default are private though I'm not sure about general images now, something I never concerned myself with before since it was always a way for me to share pics. Judging by views, I don't think my general images have been circulated randomly, but I'm just shooting from the hip on that

*I now use A1324 sensors instead of A1302... 90deg electrical swing vs 180 so better suited for joys wink

I use 'hidden'. That way people can still view it if I send them a link or they find one posted, but it's not circulated in imgur's recommendations. 'Secret' makes it so only you can see or access them.
