As I've recently discovered, DEF is for singe player people as well! And the Operation Spinnennetz utility can be used by players of other U-boat sims including UBOAT, Wolfpack and SH5, not just SH3, to have their status and contact reports plotted on an online map.
Here are the orders I received on the DEF forum, after signing up as an active single player U-boat commander (SH3+GWX3 Gold),
Leutnant zur See Richard Schepke, U-105 (Type IXB long-range boat).
And this is the latest contact report from Op Spinnennetz, off the western coast of Africa between Dakar and Freetown, 13 June 1941:
All in a matter of a few hours, we were forced down by a Catalina...
...then we located on hydrophones the small convoy we were searching for, but were severely depth-charged and driven off by a very determined escort.
We're now running on the surface in an effort to hook around the convoy and regain contact.
As well as using the Op Spinnennetz utility to update the map, I'm posting entries from the boat's Kriegstagebuch on the DEF forum for Aktive Kommandanten. BLiTZKRiEG's tools have enabled me to mod my Steam SH3 with confidence (following Fiedler's 'how to' guide) and have added a whole new dimension to what's still (IMHO) the ultimate U-boat sim!
