Recently, while using the targeting feature for laser guided bombs in IAF, JANESF-15 and EF2000V2 I recalled how I got nausea and dizzy when focusing through the view finder of a camcorder in a moving car or when reading or writing in a boat or car. Do WSO's run into this problem when using targeting systems when they focus on targeting in a moving cockpit in natural or low-light conditions.

You've stumbled onto something interesting here. I have done a lot of aerial photography in the past. While I never get airsick just flying along by myself, I find I can induce air sickness by viewing through the finder of my 35mm camera for extended periods of time. It's probably an issue unique to some people and not others. I believe what is happening is the inner ear is tricked into believing it is flying in one direction but then is forced to reacquire horizon information and restabilize itself while looking through the viewfinder. When the two problems converge, vertigo results. I have had it happen enough to know it's no accident. I wouldn't doubt for a minute that it happens to some weapon systems officers in F-15Es.

It's possible. Any 'heads down' cockpit task performed while the a/c is maneuvering has the potential to cause disorientation. This just as true of a pilot as a back seater.

This tendency is unique to each individual and tends to decrease with experience.
