I recently started oil painting. Still a complete beginner, and I've never been particularly good at drawing stuff, but I am having fun and am finding it easier than drawing.
I started painting a simple green landscape with clouds and it looks alright so far! Learning how to keep things looking natural is a challenge, I know that clouds usually form in layers but getting that onto the painting without making everything look flat is a little more difficult than it seems. But still fun.
Recently I spent a year or so going to a weekly art studio for drawing & painting lessons, I hugely enjoyed it. I was better at drawing than painting if I'm honest, but that was probably more to do with the medium than the process. I feel I would fare better with oils.

I've gotten back into oil painting after many years.

I have a lot more, but this is my most recent. Bad picture of it but you get the idea.

Thanks. I posted them on Fine Art America to see if i can sell something. Opened an account on Etsy and I'm going to try there, too. I'd love to make some money doing it. And if anyone you guys know wants a painting done, pm me. I can paint just about anything.

Thanks. I went to the School Of Visual Arts in New York City thinking I was going to become a illustrator. But life doesn't always turn out the way you expect it to.

Thanks, again. I may have exaggerated the wave a bit, but probably not by much. For it to have capsized a Navy destroyer it must have ben a monster.

I wasn't thinking along the lines of your rendition being an exaggeration since I know three destroyers were lost in that typhoon. I thought it probably reflected the event fairly well. I just know I wouldn't want to have been on one of them that were lost or the one in your painting.
Very nice paintings Pooch! Can I ask, how did you learn to do that?
I really enjoy painting but have trouble with getting my solid colors down on the canvas smoothly, there's a lot of bleed-through, I can see the brush strokes easily and the white canvas or liquid white I put down on the first layer.
Absolutely no art school experience here, and this is my first time ever painting, I've always been into photography so this is a very new kind of approach for me. Any advice would be appreciated!
VF-9, I don't remember ever learning how to do it. I've been an artist all of my life. Was painting and drawing since I was a little kid. I'm glad you like them. So.....where are yours?
