Sounds to me like it's another case of a European national government trying to do a cash grab against a US company.

Oh they are cash strapped, they keep putting in new measures to get more money in but it makes people keep the money in their pockets and they end up loosing out.

Just like the UK government decided to scrap the tax disk for the cars saying it would save £10m per year, in the two years since it was introduced the untaxed cars on the road has increased from 0.6% 3 years ago to 1.1% last year and 1.8% this year losing the government just under £100m last year and £107m this year

Loot boxes need to be regulated like gambling. It'd put an end to the vile practice of buying and selling keys.

Disney executive had a talk with the EA / Dice team and Dice has turned off in game purchased and tried to backtrack. But the thing is... they will just wait a month or two for this all to die down and then turn it back on. I have absolutely no faith that they will get rid of this p2w mindset. A streamer paid to unlock vadr and upgrade him with level 4 cards. He then went into a match and ranked up a 25ish kill streak by casually walking around killing everyone. He wasnt even very good. It was just that vadr was so powerful.

Somewhere there is an epic joke to comment on this absurdity but it escapes me right now.

Not that vadr shouldnt be powerful but the heros should be earned in the match and not able to be just bought and played by anyone anytime...

There's still progression and star cards in a competitive multiplayer game. Some people love that. I hate it. Just give everyone some loadout options and go have at it. I don't like having to unlock weapons and upgrades in competitive shooters. I don't like it when I'm playing against people who have better weapons and boosts and I'm not a fan of having that advantage over others either. It's like a football game where one team hasn't unlocked cleats yet.

I'm quite keen on the single player campaign but balls to spending £55 for 5-6 hours worth of gameplay. Don't imagine it'll have much in the way of replay value either.
