Fair enough... so I can plug in my WH grip still... I think I saw they were offering WH/Cougar adaptors.

That is one bummer.... I would so love to get a replica Su-27. I understand the idea of flying a MCG for various aircraft, but I would think that if a replica grip were available, that would be better and easier to use as you learn the aircraft. It would also be easier to map functions to the stick when you're just copying from real life stick assignments.... mapping controls to a "fantasy" layout takes more time and brainpower.

The adapter for Cougar/Warthog is more due electronics and still needed.

VKB own grips are individual "entities", have micro controller inside grip - this allow grips have axis, e.g. brake lever, mini-stick, foldable trigger with 3/4 positions... but for communicate with VKB controllers grips use digital protocol trough 3 wires.
Thrustmaster's use serial protocol through 5 wires, hence the adapter is needed.

VirPil opt in follow Thrustmaster standards, and use Shift Register, what make their grip "bolt and play" in Thrustmaster base or vice versa, but without ability to handle axis in grip if used in Tm base.

Just FYI, I had to order parts due to broken S1 and S3 buttons (ordering just the buttons would've cost me $45+shipping) and paid $116 including shipping for a full WH grip.

In desktop use MCG height is similar to Warthog (VirPil T50 is ~2cm more height).

VKB America (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zeland markets) are taking pre-order for MCG grips and bundles with VKB bases.

Ordered one as well--non-pro version. I prefer in some situation to have push buttons and fewer hats.

MCG PRO "CB" (Chubby Checker)

[Linked Image]

Twist mechanism "Next Generation" patented, lockable(?).

Add to joy cost ~$40. Compatible with all VKB MCG removable grips - probable with Gladiator PRO and Gunfighter KG-12A grip too, but for now no informed specifically. Will be available after MCG release.

I don't understand VKB's fixation on generating so many variants of a single grip. Especially considering their history of intermittent manufacturing.

So there is a TM version, two version each of the MCG and MCG Pro for revA and B pin arrangements for the Gunfighter, versions for the 5 pin bases and now twist versions. They also have the heatblur grip on the distant horizon... And all for what appears to be a niche batched-ordered series of bases...

If they can handle it logistically more power to them but I don't sense overwhelming enthusiasm on the grip front. I think simmers really want to see an excellently engineered throttle system more than grips.

My other issue, after having used VKB for awhile now, is that while the hardware front is excellent, the software front is lacking in any sort of useful documentation. The new grips look like they could have excellent programming possibilities but the lack of an intuitive or even reasonably documented software package is a bit of a show stopper for me.

I don't want to sound down on the grip situation--I have VKB products and like them quite a bit.

Their software is powerful - but different than conventional keyboard emulation commonly used by other brands.

Seems they don't find a player with a good Russian and English knowledge, used to that software to do a proper translation*, just rend a professional Russian translation service is not solution, will result in bad translation like Bo'X and CloD interfaces, with meaningless commands names.

* Are one translation started, done by the guy that did the Russian manual for VKB DevConfig soft, but is running in "turtle rhythm", due their English lacking.

That delay is a massive pain in the ar*e for me - they're now planning to send so that it will probably arrive right when I'm overseas... So for once I'm crossing fingers for more delays...

Well, bad good news (for you lol): another delay, this time well into 2018.

Do you guys think a CH fighterstick would be a good "stopgap measure" until the release and availability of the VKBs? I finally purchased a set of pedals (VKB MK IV - someone was selling for like USD 150,00 here in Brazil), and I can say goodbye to twist rudders. I already got the CH Throttle, and I'm looking for a desktop joystick (so Virpil is out of question).

T-Rudder Mk.IV for $150 is a very good deal, don't miss.

Considering the lack of options, Fighterstick is a good option - will allow you await all these VKB delays. hahaha
Their only real flaw is the obsolete 8 bit ADC in USB controller for axes input - said noticeable with DCSW helicopters, but this is easy to improve with low cost DIY.

Saw the T-Rudder post in Gavca forum and I was surprised the the seller still had it... now on the way to my house :-)
The 8-bit ADC in the CH is something that I almost forgot... now I'm think again on Virpil with the mounting clamp, but it will cost me 3-4x more (but looks like something for a lifetime). Warthog is kind of desktop capable, but too expensive for its plastic gimbals.

I would have been really happy if that delay was for the MCG, but it's not, it's just for Gladiator Pro. My MCG grip is still scheduled for December at this stage.

After reading some 300 different threads in different forums, in the end I decided to get the Gladiator Pro Mk II base (base + KG12 stick is available at x-plane.org store - I checked availability by email too) and wait for the MCG grip to be released.

As I understand, the new Gladiator only have a minor pin positioning difference from the MK II (same 3 pins, but in different positions). Anyway, the grips to be released in December (knocks on wood) will fit the MK II.

In my case I already had a Gunfighter Pro, so I was just waiting for the MCG to use that in DCS and other sims where I really need more buttons on the stick that on the KG12 grip. I do love the Gunfighter, it's really a great stick, especially when floor mounted.

I was going to purchase the new gladiator base with the MCG, but due to the delay I've got the only deal I've found to get a base and be ready for the MCG. Besides people telling wonders about the gimbals, I'm in the same boat as you: I need a stick with lots of buttons for DCS, BMS, and maybe Star Citizen, if I live that long...
CH Throttle is awesome, but I have to use lots of shift functions due to my stick (T16000M), besides T16000M buttons and ergonomics sucks (at least works as a left stick in a HOSAS). Even the KG12 grip have more usable buttons than T16000M, due to the pinky button.

Now I'm just deciding if I'll get the MCG or MCG Pro grip.
