Hi mainly for ICE but any please comment.

Is there one build better suited for BMS over another?

If I wanted to extract the MFD's or something else on a small scale, what are my monitor options if I was to start building a cockpit. I realize I can use any readily available size, but is there a source for small sizes that can work on a PC?

Yeah, Ice is the man for all of your Helios needs. You may have already, but check this thread at the BMS forum

Great resource. I just hit him up. Waiting for some info before I pull the trigger on the touchscreens.

Hello Nacman,

Helios has been abandonware for 2-3 years now so just get the latest version which is Build 1.1.190 HERE. I'm not sure about your questions regarding MFD size.... why would you want to extract them on a small scale? I would expect you'd want them on a 1:1 scale or even slightly bigger so that they're easier to see and use.

As for your BMS forum PM, what pictures are you referring to? My screens are a iiyama ProLite T2452MTS for my center screen and a smaller iiyama ProLite T2250MTS for the side screen. Note that you do not need two touchscreens; the most commonly-used setup is the single touchscreen setup. Still, nothing stopping you from using two touchscreens.... I know some people adapt my profile onto 5 screens or so. smile

Hope that helps!

It does help. I have taken your picture and numbered the panels. Can you confirm what I am seeing. It may be wrong.

1 = 24 inch? - Non-touch
3= 24 inch? - Non-touch
4= 24 inch? - Non-touch
2= T2452MTS - Touch
5= T2250MTS - Touch ( Initially I thought this was set up portrait, but I see ICONs in the 10 o'clock position relative to my red 5, so it must be landscape like the rest?)

Is this correct?

I have a nice water cooled rig, self built. Intel I7 32gb ram with a single GTX690 with 4 possible outputs. I have dual monitors now.

What card and MB and Proc are running? 1 video or two video cards?

I was going to purchase 2 of the 24 inch Dell touchscreens.... do you think the 24 at position 5 might be too big. I realize it is all in personal choice, and I am already gathering plans for building a modular pit made of wood and fiberglass. So the pit will dictate space. but in the meantime I still need to fly falcon while I build the pit over the winter. :-)

Main displays (3, 1, 4) are 27" 1920x1080 monitors, iiyama ProLite X2783HSU. These are set up in Surround at 5896x1080 combined resolution. 2 is touchscreen and 5 is touchscreen. The profile only takes up a little less than half of the #5 screen because the rest of the space can be used for stuff like TeamSpeak, HWiNFO monitoring, etc. It is landscape.

You can see the #5 screen better in this pic:
[Linked Image]

All of these are out of one 980Ti GPU and on-board graphics. I have a i5 6600K at stock clocks. My three 27" displays are powered through the GPU, the 4th GPU output goes to my HTC Vive. Main touchscreen connects to the motherboard via DVI-to-DP adapter cable. Left touchscreen connects via a Targus docking device... it is DVI-to-DVI to the Targus dock then the dock connects to the PC via USB. I have experimented with adding a 2nd GPU (non-SLI) to power the touchscreens but testing that did not prove to be beneficial, in fact, it made matters worse so I went back to single GPU.

As for using a 24" for #5 position, I think that's still possible but may need to get creative on the space. It may depend on how big the bezels are. I did not like having to cram everything onto the single monitor; there are a lot of stuff on the left AUX console that are essential for flight and SA even if all you do is glance down at them every now and again (TWA lights, Chaff/Flare count) or need rapid access to it (EMER JETT, Stores Config switch, CMDS Program and Mode buttons) so I really like the 2nd touchscreen.

Hope that helps!

Hey Nacman, a lot of changes since 2017, Helios is 1.4.2019.0616 and has been supported by BlueFinBima for a bit. With 4.34 everything is changed, even I am heading toward the (for MFD's and OSBs) 8" Lilliputs now! Hope all is well!
