I "like" the way Dart worded that. This place is the closest I'll ever come to social networking, I'm comfortable with the mostly middle-age demographics and the fact that I know none of you personally. smile

Moses, you're a major inspiration, 100 lbs. (45.6 kg) is a LOT of weight to shed! Love the irony of your t-shirt too. I have a couple of Krispy Kreme as well as Coca-Cola/Dr. Pepper and plenty of restaurant t-shirts reminding me of my favorite seafood platters over the years.

Looking forward to your next progress pic.

The burned edges are my favorite part (see pics below). Red onions have become my favorite (they taste kinda sweet for a roasted vegetable).

We've never thought of cauliflower, will have to try it. Wife makes fake "mashed potatoes" sometimes using cauliflower, it's good.

Jeff, your achievement is nothing short of epic.

SimHQ may be a bit niche and cranky at times, but it's a great community with many - most - members having been here years. There are always disagreement on politics, flight models, which sim is best, but I'm always heartened by the love and support of members for the serious stuff.

I had a college friend who was always (quite) a bit overweight and a bon vivant. He was a keen gamer and he died a couple of years back of a pulmonary embolism. In his early 40s, leaving a fianceé. Basically sitting on his ass all day killed him. I was gutted, because he was a bit of legend for his humanity and his record collection, and a lovely bloke.

And that's why your progress matters to me.

My congratulations on your success Moses. thumbsup
I will warn you to be very careful doing things that may seem easier now that you are lighter. I was in a similar position weight wise two years ago. I was down to 315 from over 400 lbs and was doing things I thought were not going to be a problem. I was working on a ladder and stepped off of it wrong and felt my left knee pop. To date it was the most intense pain I have ever experienced. That knee injury set me back to where I started because for months I could barely walk. I have spent the last two years rehabbing the knee as best I can without medical attention and I broke the 400 lb barrier, in the right direction, about a month ago. The knee is still not 100% since I still do feel some pain in it most of the time but I am able to go to the gym and ride a bike without the knee grinding now. I have tried the elliptical machine and the treadmill since they are better workouts but the pain in the knee is not letting that happen consistently.

Mainly just be careful and deliberate in your actions so you don't end up hurting yourself because your mind is actually ahead of where your body has progressed.

All this talk of losing weight and here I am headed in the opposite direction.

Well done Moses.

Oh man, Wheels! eek2 So sorry to hear that.

While I haven't thought much of accidents (I will now), I'm backing off from jogging unless I'm really feeling it, despite the benefits of elevated heart rate. Same with weight lifting, I'm not pushing as hard as I could be, I'm too afraid of injury that would disrupt my routine.

Thanks Mark.
You got the jist of the message. Don't quit what you are doing just make sure to keep in mind that we aren't as young anymore and injuries take a hell of a lot longer to heal.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Kids, mid-life, and free lunches at work are taking their toll on me too. T-shirts have shrunk in the wash, and trouser waist sizes have obviously gotten smaller over the years. biggrin

The phenomenon you're looking for is known as "closet shrink."

Congratulations, Moses! cheers <-- Lite beers

I know how you're feeling, dude! biggrin Well, I mostly know. Mine was the 200 mark (from almost 270), but I remember it vividly (2009)...

At the time I had serious willpower not to get on the scale until Sunday mornings. I knew I had a good week and that I would probably see a 1 as my first number on our next weigh-in, for the first time in 20 years. It was Saturday evening and we were doing our Publix grocery shopping (Jax, FL). When you first walk in to Publix, there's a large green scale by the buggies. I told my wife, " I have to." She tried talking me out of it, "Don't do it, wait until tomorrow." You know, first thing in the morning and being naked gives you the best numbers. But I had to give it a try...

I get on the scale and it's just over 200. frown "Oh well." So we're walking out and I turn around and say something like, "One more try." I sit down and take off my shoes, hand them to her and I get on the scale again (yeah, that's kinda nasty, I know). There it was, a hair under 200! I get off and back on several times, not really believing it, then I have her look at the needle from different angles just to make sure. Meanwhile, she jumping around all excited and I remember just staring at the scale in disbelief. I freggin' did it!

The problem is that I keep reliving this moment (200 lbs.) which isn't really progress anymore. biggrin

Anyway, I know it's an awesome feeling when you're hitting major milestones as you're losing.
