They've shelved the f-18 development for the time being. They're throwing their workforce behind the development of the new effects. Next week it will be something completely different.
DCS Kickstarter Wags July 2014 "In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable." Wags October 2017 "the investment vs. generated revenue has been excellent for the World War II aircraft. In fact, the P-51D Mustang has twice the cost effectiveness of the A-10C Warthog."

Didn't ED, through their highest apostle Matt Wagner......... They've shelved the f-18 development for the time being. They're throwing their workforce behind the development of the new effects. Next week it will be something completely different. haha being a Sunday here in Aus town.....the apostle comment brought a smile to my dial....more so than the church wine (black current juice) and blessed bread I had this morning. F-18 development is 'almost' ready for release......however the 'official' statement will come out that development has been delayed a year or two 'because of the numerous hurricanes experienced in the good ole US of 2nd amendment A....funding has been cut on the project until such time the military budget is extended by Trump so we can fulfill our development contracts. As you as consumers know....our budget blew out because of funding to Puerto Rico' Or is the above....as they say 'fake news'?

I thought this game was being made by Russian developers? Did the hurricanes get them too? Or are the Russian devs based in Texas or Florida?
As for their resources, it's currently being diverted to make sure Normandy has region and period correct water towers, windmills, farm houses, and bridges. It's also being used to make sure the beach in Normandy looks good enough to have a holiday on.
On a more serious note, I'm glad no new videos have come out. It's bad enough that they keep teasing us with the Hornet, it's even worse that they do so without giving us a video of anything significant we want to know about such as the ground radar implementation.

I.......video of anything significant we want to know about such as the ground radar implementation. Yet numerous 3rd party developers have been 'waiting' for ED\TFC to implement ground radar before they can fix their bugged modules....Sobek chimes in "anyone can implement the ground radar, they (3rd party devs) just need to code it" yet we have 3rd party developers implementing bridges, water towers and the like and absolutely none contributing towards coding the ground radar that would speed up the release of the F-18. i'll find the exact quote....Sobek re-quoted me in his\her (I included 'her' as when this person\member was moderator at ED\TFC, the official title of this person was 'fangirl' hence why I assumed this said person was a lady) response to ground radar implementation when I asked the question. I ask the same question which all so applies to the damage model VEAO can't fix until ED 'implement' in the 'official' coding of the 'world'

ED, as always, has done in depth research about the subject.
YoYo is in the process of designing an actual F-18 from scratch thanks to his superior knowledge of everything, to see if he makes the same design choices Northrop and MDD did, back in the day. Then he will write the Natops manuals first hand, and the F-18 will be developed from that. As you can imagine, this is a long and painstaking process, made easier only by Sithspawn's delicious home-made butter cookies, which he posts over to the Moscow office on a daily basis, together with a list of freshly banned forum members.
Right now they have nothing to show, because they are still developing the YF-17. When that is fully simulated and perfectly understood, they will proceed with the F/A-18A and so on, block by block. But I can tell you right now, don't trust Natops manuals or even some so called "Navy F-18 pilots" when they tell you the F-18 has a radar... So far we don't have any documents that clearly point out the presence of an A-G radar on the particular BuNo number they are simulating.
I hope they take all the time they need to get this right!

Have they run out of things to show? The first one was out 3rd of July then the second one was out 4 weeks later on the 31st of July. It's been 12 weeks now.... does Matt have any involvement in anything in DCS aside from promoting it and making videos? I mean is he a coder for them or something else that may explain the lack of further Hornet videos? Or have they really run out of things to show?

I did not watch any of the videos yet - but I guess that they are busy doing other things, like going fishing with their friends or spending more time with their grandchildren , activities that I believe are much more interesting than spending their time coding. I would rather spend some more time binge watching Walking Dead than writing code in some dreary office . That's all well and good if you're doing this for free and in your own time. I'm sure things are different when coding is your JOB and your company has given you deadlines.

I am not defending the developer - I know next to nothing of game coding, but where creativity is concerned, deadlines don't work.
