There is the need to replace the aging Tornado fleet in the Luftwaffe in the near future.. Germany already called for information earlier this year for informations about the F35 and now the F15 and F18s. I havn't heard that they want a french or swedish nor russian jets. So what would you buy if you need a tactical bomber capable carrying A-bombs? The link: http://in.reuters.com/article/boein...ta-as-weighs-order-options-idINKCN1C41U0

It depends if a collaboration will be plan with France for a 5th gen fighter. If no, they'll go for F-35, if yes F-15 or F-18. I guess we will be fixed next year. There is already an agreement between France and Germany for a Eurofighter replacement in the future but nothing that would be ready in 2025 when the Tornado retired. I don't know the exact numbers of Tornados in service. Guess it's 50-60 right now. And i have no clue if they are seeking for a interim solution until it will be replaced by the next france/german fighter or a longer lifespan.

Based on the pricing Canada got for their Super Hornet request, I can't see that being an option. F-15s would be interesting, as they can have a pretty substantial ground attack capability, and they're still being produced for other nations, if I recall correctly. At the Miramar Air Show I heard a USAF F-15 pilot talking to a group about flying with Singapore, I think it was, and how their F-15s are so much newer and nicer than his . Glass cockpits, better radar, etc.

Let's lease them to the Germans.
Read that twice and see if you don't laugh at the historical implications.
