I am. biggrin

Taking my daughter (19) to see Roger Waters tomorrow night in Toronto.

I love Pink Floyd , seen them in 87 and 94 (without Waters). Saw Roger Waters way back in 84, I was 17.
33 yrs later I'm taking my daughter.

I've been thinking about it ever since I heard about the tour. I havent been to a concert since 1996 eek
I lived for concerts as a teen and 20 something yr old. But by 29 I seen everyone I wanted to, most of them twice.
Last show I saw was Neil Young with Oasis opening. Great show, but I remember feeling " I am too old for this #%&*$#".
Married the next year with a daughter, quit my partying ways. Son 4yrs later.

Fast forward 20 yrs, and here I am.

The only acts that would get me out again would be a Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd reunion. I struggled with the Van Halen/Roth reunion back in 2010, I think. Saw VH 4 times, but never with Roth. But a few Youtube videos was enough to tell me it would just be sad. DLR was cool as #%&*$# in his day. Now he is cringe inducing. And I love VH. The cost of current concert tickets played a role as well.

Watched a few youtube videos of Roger's current tour, and I really want to go. He covers alot of Floyd, including tunes from Animals, my favorite album.

He plays Toronto 3 nights. Tonight, tomorrow and then back again on the 13th.
I doubt it will be better than Floyd in 94, that concert was amazing.

Just wanted to share my joy. bananadance

I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan but I didn't make it to their concert when they came down to Miami in 1994. I was a starving college student at the time so I had zero money.

The last concert I went to was in 2016 when i saw Celine Dion in Las Vegas. It was my wife's idea not mine. I swear!!!

Have a great time, WT! I'll be interested to here what demographics you see in attendance. (I'm guessing there will be more people in your age group than in your daughter's)

PM, I hope you got something good in return for that sacrifice...

I'm pretty sure it's going to be mostly old farts like me.

I saw Rush in concert in Ft. Lauderdale during their "Clockwork Angels" tour and I don't think I saw anyone under the age of about 35. biggrin

Cool. I wonder if you will have the usual nervous laughter with her when you both smell the obligatory second hand smell of the weed that always shows up. Hope he plays some stuff from the Final Cut for you.

The Final Cut, I wish. She's already experimented with weed. Not her thing thankfully.

Yeah... she probably deserves more 'credit' on this than you do! winkngrin

I saw this tour when he was in Washington D.C., in August. It was a great show and yes, the demographic will be more your age than hers.

Saw him at Desert Trip a couple years ago.

Loved the music, but I didn't care for his political agenda. In fact, for me, it detracted enough from the songs that I likely won't see him again... He should just stick to music ... or run for elected office.

Oh well.

In any case, I'm happy to hear you sharing some quality time together with your daughter -- hope you both enjoy the concert.

Cheers,
4 <S!>

I have no time for politics either. I just love the music.

He probably won't play much from the Final Cut. It is a bit of downer subject. Maybe you will get "Not Now John". I am not familiar with his politics anymore. Some of these guys still tour, just to push their ideas. That's the old bathroom break time. A bit like, "now we are going to play something from our new album".

Years ago, I took my daughter to see Natalie Merchant (10,000 Maniacs). Natalie had way too many political and social speeches. It ruined her show.

We're the same age, WangoTango. Welcome to midlife, get ready to ROCK! biggrin

It's a balancing act, I think...being an old[er] dude while reliving your later teen years (and in your case, with your later teen kid). cool
You should have seen the [real] seniors rocking to "Carry On Wayward Son" at a recent Kansas concert. I mean, they were into it, some elderly couples too!

I believe our generation is one day going to freakin' rock the nursing homes! old_simmer

Have fun! band

EDIT: Agree about Pink Floyd concert in '94. Also, I wouldn't mind hearing The Final Cut in its entirety.

Gives way and suddenly it’s day again
The sun is in the east
Even though the day is done
Two suns in the sunset, hmph
Could be the human race is run

The Final Cut is essentially a Roger Waters solo album and it is depressing as hell.

No more so than much of The Wall (including some Wall rejects), birthday boy.

Thanks Mark! I should also add that I do like "The Final Cut" very much even if it is depressing!

Well, seeing as how you're 'older' now, it seems appropriate that you should listen to it today. winkngrin

Isn't 50 considered to be the "new" 40?

I'm 45 now so that means I'm really 35. biggrin

The Final Cut is definitely deppressing. But I love it.

Thanks for the well wishes tonight. I hope for it to be someting my daughter will always remember.
I have been trying to avoid reviews of the show. I want some surprises tonight. In this day and age, you can go on Youtube and see the entire show before you even go. I prefer back in the day when you had to GO to see it. Set lists were a surprise. In this instant/now world we live in, a bit of the fun is taken away.
