I recently got into shaving with a safety razor and shaving soap applied with a brush. I want to eventually start using a straight razor. What about you?

Shaving I have a 60's something Gillette slim adjustable that's excellent. That with some merkur titanium coated blades...the blades are key.
...but I'm tired of shaving so I go with about 2-3mm and a trimmer. I've been through every brand trimmer and most suck. I know of three that are good but I've returned about 6.
Brio Beardscape
Wahl Lithium Ion plus
Norelco One Blade although build quality kind of sucks, it does a good job. Returned the high end one for the cheaper one.

Been using an electric since before boot camp in 99. Was a lot easier to use in BMT than razor and shaving cream, and easier to clean. Been using a Braun Series 5 for about 6 years, and just now replaced the blades and grill.

I cut my own hair high and tight with Wahl clippers and a large handheld mirror so I can see around the back. Been doing that since January or so, and it's great. If my hair on sides/back gets long enough to grab with fingers, it's too long and drives me nuts (I have very fine hair). I have to cut it about every 10 days or so. Doing it myself has saved a whole bunch of money and give me the bonus of being able to do it whenever I want (and not having to wait in line at the barber shop).

Safety razor for me.
100 blades cost £9.99... A Gillette or similar, it's like 9.99 for 3 cartridges for it... Feck Gillette!

Add in my brush, cake of shaving soap and a little bowl for mixing... I got my shaving setup for less than £20...

Disposable, usually taken from hotel room :-)
Shaving does bore me to death, contemplating letting it grow and see how far it goes.

Cheers,

My wife cuts mine, has since we got married and I got fed up with the cost and wait at barber shops. LOL
Saved almost $4000 to date and she does a better job of it. I like doing the sides with the trimmer myself, very satisfying for some reason.

I use the cartridge types, have tried disposables but the cartridges are better quality and last longer. Never been one for electric razors, they just don't get close enough IMO (although I've never had a really nice one). Safety and straight edge razors just seem dangerous but my old man always used safety razors with a shaving mug and brush (pretty hardcore).

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

Gillette Fusion Power although I recently broke the power switch (it stuck on so I unscrew the battery cap to turn it off) so I will be looking for something new soon. I'd like the same but blades are so expensive for it.

I originally started shaving with an electric shaver which was hard work. Then one day whilst staying with my brother I realised I'd left it at home. He lent me a wet razor and I couldn't believe how good/easy it was and never looked back.

I use an antique Dorco straight razor made in the early 1930's.

Generally hot-shave in the shower using shaving soap I made myself from olive and coconut oil.

If I'm really pressed for time I'll use a disposable razor but straight razors are a lot more gentle on the skin.

I've often thought about shaving my head (I use clippers with no guard for the last 20+ years) but wasn't sure how easy it would be.Plus I tend to cut myself even with a so-called safety razor.

Electric razor works great on my face, but not so good on my neck. I'm like Homer Simpson. I have "5 o'clock shadow" ten minutes after I shave,

Mach 3 for the head and half the face. Each cartridge will last about a month but don't shave every day. The barber I went gave me a discount for cutting a half head of hair but when he closed his shop and went to a 'classy' place that charge $20 said enough and went bald look.

Tried an electric when young but burned the face,

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Joined Dollar Shave Club a few months back. $7 a month, and you get 4 new, 4 blade cartridges. High quality product. The handle is nice and has some weight to it. Better than any Gillette or WS product I've used.
I was a Mach 3 fan for years, but just could not stomache the price of replacement blades.
Best part is no commitment, you can cancel anytime.

Most times I use shaving soap with a brush. But if I feel lazy I use shaving cream.

Electric never worked well for me. I need a blade to get a good shave.
When I was in Basic Training, I had to shave in the morning like everyone else. But by noon I was getting in crap for not shaving that morning. I had to shave on my lunch breaks as well.
I had 5 oclock shadow by noon.

1960 Gillette Fat Boy, Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream, Omega shaving brush. Not the fastest way to shave, but I'm retired and enjoy the ritual of whipping up a nice warm lather in a shaving bowl.
