Heard from Magnum, he and his family are ok together with their home. Just power issues and trees and fences down.

Checking in from at work.

I'm glad to see most of our fellow Floridian SimHQers coming through this with little of no damage, etc. Power is still out at my place, along with CATV/internet. Cell phone/4G/SMS Text service is spotty. The SMS Text is most reliable, as you would expect, but even that comes through in batches. Thankfully, we still have water pressure, which makes the rest of it more tolerable. No real damage to the house... just some branches down, and lotsa leaves. We have a generator which I run periodically to keep the refrigerator cool enough and to recharge some batteries. This part of Florida dodged a canon round. The dry air coming down from Canada basically took the p!ss out of IRMA, bringing it down to much less power and organization by the time it got this far north along the peninsula.

Now, up here, the flood to contend with is mostly the returning evacuees, as southbound traffic on major arteries is filling up, and apparently it has been outrunning the return of gasoline supplies in some cases. There are worse problems to have... all one has to do is remember the folks further south and over in Texas in the affected areas.

Yeah, I saw a bunch of southbound line trucks as I was headed up to work this morning. According to Duke Energy's outage map, power is restored to my house. Hopefully, that will be the case when I get home.

Yep...and the local emergency ops center is swimming in fuel, food and A/C while old folks die.

Took 16hrs for our guests to return to Tampa (usually should take 9-10). Guess everyone's going back at once.

Still nearly 500k out of power in Hillsborough/Pinellas counties (mostly St. Pete n Clearwater). 60ish in Pasco. Witlacootchee power in Hernando/pasco really came through, got abkut 80% of their outages squared away by this morning.

Heard from friend in Hernando cty gas normalizing. Tampa still hit n miss.

It only took me 3 hrs and 10 minutes to get back from Laurel, Mississippi to near Tampa.

I'm thinking that the vast majority of people who evacuated Florida went north and not west.

Power has not been restored at my house yet, but I was able to get gasoline fairly easily this morning on the way into work. It was definitely more of an issue yesterday evening. Southbound traffic on U.S. 19 has not yet cranked up to the level that I expected it to be by now. Gasoline availability may be a factor there.
