Anyone dealing with this? Its annoying as hell. I can't find much about it or how to deal with it. Usually happens at bedtime, interfering with getting to sleep, but sometimes during the day too.
I've tried "Restful Legs", a homeopathic snake oil, B12, magnesium...anyone find something that works?

Actually I think that's what triggers it. LOL
Happened back when I was road riding and started up again when I started at the gym, which includes a good bit of stationary bike. I go every other day and it seems those nights are the worst.
A hot shower helps relax it, but hopping up to take a 2nd shower at 1am kind of sucks.
My diet is probably the best it's ever been in my life, so I shouldn't need the supplements, but I tried anyway.

I wonder if cutting waaay back on caffeine might have something to do with it? I don't get headaches though.

If you trust your doctor, there sure are a lot of pills out there for it.

Got an excellent doc, and my regular appointment later this month. I'd rather not experiment with a prescription, doesn't seem like it should require that. There's always a drug company ready to take your money. LOL

Some years ago I listened to a serious medical public radio show about the restless leg syndrome. Their advice: If it's really RLS then orgasms do help. Get some sex before sleep or at least masturbate. And remember: this is medical advice - so this is SFW.

So just keep kicking your wife at night while in bed, and then site ADorante's advice. I love it. See, this site is still great. biggrin

I went to the doctor with this years ago after I drove my wife mad, especially in bed. I just could not keep my legs still if I was 'resting'. The doctor said it was RLS and to be honest I thought she was joking. I was sent to my local Boots chemist to be measured up for some surgical stockings which if I'm honest I really didn't want to wear but I did.

Eventually it settled down and so far hasn't returned, fingers crossed (or is that legs crossed?). And yeah,I can sympathise with you,it wasn't a pleasant thing.

Oddly enough, Dorante has the solution for the symptom; vigorous love making for just 45 minutes does help a lot. At a minimum it will allow one's partner to sleep soundly while the other person kicks around. wink

Wife had this. Turns out it wasn't RLS, but a side effect of one of her medications. The pain management specialist switched them out and it went away.

Also you could consider getting a different mattress that doesnt transfer movement. There are a bunch of them out there that would let you kick your leg all night without affecting whoever else is on the bed.

There are other things you can do. Exercise and stretch your legs right before bed. Put a heating pad on them or ice pack (extreme temperature changes can reduce movement for a few hours.) No caffeine or sugar for a few hours before bed. Really tight socks or you can get leg wraps with Velcro to adjust the tightness. You can also try one of those sprain wraps you put on writs.

Or just jiggle them legs! That is what I do. Sometimes my wife yells at me for it but ffs sometimes you have to jiggle them!

Sex, booze and/or WD-40 pretty much fixes any problems (even wasp stings, spray it on the hurt). smile

Seriously, sounds like an irritating affliction. I have a restless leg sometimes when I'm sitting bored, but not when I'm trying to sleep. I don't even notice it but others do if I'm shaking a table.

45 minutes?? What? You think we're all teenagers here or something?

Just get your doctor to write you a prescription for sex. Apply 45 minutes, or as needed daily. Keep it on the night stand.

Would work better if *she* had the affliction. Like subtly getting a cardiologist to agree that vigorous sex is good for the heart, both figuratively and physically (backed up by hours of online research that says as much). smile

Something we never thought of...

Like medical cannabis, medical...robot sex dolls? Paid for by insurance, of course.

Sure, but mine's only interested in write-ups about a vacation, airshow or day downtown, usually a long thread with pics. As long as I behave in real life (and I do), with people we actually know, there's no problem. Employment details (income and stuff) is off limits. Pretty much anything else is ok, if I have doubts, I ask. Maybe a couple of posts over the years would get me into a little trouble (and maybe not), but I pretty much know where the line is drawn.

Then again, I never had children that might go snooping.

Some really good advice here. LOL
"Honey, it's for medical purposes. Yes, I know it happens every night, but it's for science!"

Doesn't bother my wife, we do have a bed that doesn't bounce around. Bugs the crap outta me though, it's like having waaay too much energy in your legs and can't stand it but to "flex" the leg muscles or something to try to shake it out.
45 minutes? We can't go that long without a kid knocking on the door or going to the kitchen. It SUCKS having the master BR off of the kitchen! We should've thought ahead before buying this house. Teenagers eat constantly. LOL
