Bad plan that sounds good:

Gold goes to Iron Bank guy.
Iron Bank guy puts gold on ship to Braavos.
Enron captures ship, takes gold.
Cersei funds war debt free.

Cheat on the Iron Bank...hmmm... I think not.

Quote
"One stone crumbles and another takes its place and the temple holds its form for a thousand years or more. And that's what the Iron Bank is, a temple. We all live in its shadow and almost none of us know it. You can't run from them, you can't cheat them, you can't sway them with excuses. If you owe them money and you don't want to crumble yourself, you pay it back."
―Tywin Lannister

There is an implied alliance between the Bank of Braavos and the Faceless Men. So if you don't pay, maybe no one will take care of it. wink

Also remember that Dragonstone is quite near Kings Landing - it is the nearest big city to Dragonstone.

Looking at maps it is about 300 miles of sailing to get there.

Awesome episode, nice to see Drogon kicking some butt! Wonder how many ballistas they have deployed around King's Landing now. A couple dozen of those could render the dragons quite inneffective, not to mention quite dead, in an eventual battle of King's Landing.

I too think Jaime will finally see what a completely mad witch his sister has become, and kill her. It's a shame Arya turned around and went to Winterfell instead of following her plan to kill Cersei. At this point she seems to be able to go wherever she wants and do whatever she wants to whomever she wants. Who knows how much pain she would have spared everyone if she'd bumped Cersei off right around now.

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Not quite. The last time we saw them was when they raided the Cave of the Three Eyed Crow (book)/ Raven (series), which is close-ish to the Fist of the First Men (Season 6, Ep. 5/6). [East of the Fist, between it and the Antler River]

And we still don't know for sure if the Night King is responsible (as in triggering it) for the Long Night, or has to wait for it to build up enough for him to be able to travel south. To go around Eastwatch, he will have to wait until the sea is frozen over enough to march his army around the Wall. That may also take some time.

I don't think Jamie will kill Cersei. Not for her sins or crazy murderous actions at least. Everyone is buying into this new and reformed Jamie. They forget that he is crazy for her -

This was after he pushed Bran out of the window (S1E2?)

Quote
Cersei Lannister: Let me go...
Jaime Lannister: Never.
Cersei Lannister: Let me go...
Jaime Lannister: [whispers reassuringly in Cersei's ear] The boy won't talk. And if he does, I'll kill him, Ned Stark, the king, the whole bloody lot of them until you and I are the only people left in this world.
[Cersei and Jaime quietly sink into a loving embrace]

Now, if she were to betray him...jealousy...that could be bad. But I doubt it. She says she enjoys being with him too much. Does she love him? I dunno....

Who is the Golden Company(?) that Sersei mentioned being in talks with?

As for taking out the dragons, before they showed the weapon, I figured they were just going to poison some cattle put out to feed the dragons. They still go off on their own to feed, make something obvious.
I suspect 2 will get taken out fairly soon, leaving just the favorite one.

The Golden Company is a band of sellswords (mercenaries): http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Golden_Company

Jayhawk...if you can remove that, I will sincerely be greatful.

At least I hope you can contain yourself in the future and keep what you know to yourself. On a watchers thread, I do not think this is good form.

It's in spoiler tags with a big, fat warning in ALL CAPS.

Apart from that one, I don't know any more than everyone else, because I didn't "read ahead". I keep going back after the episode aired to see what's what, though.

Frankly, if you know the books and have some background knowledge about the history of "Song of Ice and Fire", it's not that hard to guess ahead at what's going to happen.

Fair enough.

I'm out.

Enjoy the show guys. I enjoyed discussing the episodes so far, but I will not be coming to get my fun spoiled.

Well, I'm removing it, even though it was clearly marked as SPOILER!

Hopefully you can then still enjoy talking about the show here.

Wait, they mention The Golden Company in the show. I can't recall if that is where Dany's boy toy came from - it might have been another group - but they mention it with several others.

The show is actually ahead of the books, so that bit of spoiler fodder is kind of useless. Not like they've been following that closely to begin with.

The spoiler referred to information on future episodes that was released by leakers to the Internet, and Jayhawk was kind enough to remove it.

I appreciate Jayhawk's knowledge on the books, the lore, and the show. It makes this thread so much better.

But one thing is to provide information from the books that might or not make it to the show, and another is confirming that the leaks online are correct so far and then providing an example of a future event in an unaired episode.

He is right that I can simply ignore the spoiler tag but, at least I was not expecting that information on a thread shared by current viewers of the show.

As per GoT TV show, Ser Jorah Mormont has a history with the Golden Company, while in the books there is no such direct reference.
(Season 4) When Jorah Mormont advises Daenerys Targaryen not to trust Daario Naharis because he is a sellsword, she points out that he himself fought for the Golden Company before pledging his sword to her brother Viserys.

Maybe he can use his connections to fool up Cerceis plans with the GC...

What a silly argument over spoilers. Sheesh.

I removed the part in spoiler tags because the information was not really necessary for this thread, and I would not want to ruin the fun for anyone, especially the thread starter. It was in response to the second part of Raw's post that I quoted, not the Golden Company part. I would not consider that info to be a spoiler, since it is almost strictly book related, and "A Dance with Dragons" was published in late 2011.

I would have preferred if Bib would have simply written me a PM and told me about the problem, though. It wasn't necessary to drag that into the thread, because I feel it kinda tainted the mood somewhat.

But water under the bridge, as far as I am concerned. Let's move on.

beercheers

Agreed Jayhawk! IMHO, you put all that stuff in spoiler tags so in my book you did nothing wrong.

Anyway, back to GOT. So when will Danaerys "bend the knee" for Jon Snow? wink
