Ice Cold in Alex or Eating in ...
My main phone, which is for Belgium, is an iPhone 5s and it replaced my 4s which is now relegated for UK use. The wife uses a 4s and my son uses a 6s, our daughters both use android phones and the other two sons use iPhones. Just now I have the grand kid's ipad 3 in for repair - another new screen/digitiser and a new battery but the new screen doesn't seem to work ... back to Amazon it goes.

I also keep an old Nokia 6310i for use in my MG as it is the only one that is fully compatible with the car.

Motorola Droid Turbo. I'm due for a new one but this one still works great. 2.5 hours to charge it and then I just over 2 days' worth of power before I have to recharge again. I love how I can just give it two twists of the wrist and the camera turns on. Two chops with the wrist and the dual LEDs toggle on and off for a flashlight. When a text comes in, I get a screen notice while it's asleep so that turning on the screen does not drain the battery, and I can read the text right from the sleep screen. Kevlar back, Gorilla glass screen, water resistant nano coating. Other cool things like being able to change "OK Google Now " to whatever I want (I changed it to "OK, R2D2").

The next gen phone for me is the Motorola Droid Z Force, but other than the magnetic mods, it seems like a step backwards rather than forward. So run this phone into the grave I will!

Samsung Galaxy S7, as is typical of Samsung handsets it has good hardware but a terrible user interface.

I love the interface of my S4, can't stand my wifes iPhone6. To each his own.

My Galaxy S5 has been spontaneously rebooting itself with increasing frequency for a while so I've been weighing up the replacement options. Pixel was tempting, but I decided to stick with Samsung and bought an S8. Silly expensive for a phone but it is a lovely piece of kit, camera in particular is very impressive.

I haven't owned a cell phone in 15 years.

Are they still popular? wink

iPhone SE 64GB. The iPhone 5S had the perfect size for me and I didn't want a bigger phone so I was very happy when Apple released the SE version.

Dirt cheap ZTE, don't even remember the model. All I need from a cellphone (beyond phone) is ability to use Google Maps, VERY basic internet, and a camera/videocamera just good enough to document things (like a problem at work or a car accident).

Anything beyond that? I go to my tablet. To hell with tiny phone screens.

And at home to hell with tiny tablet screens! 95% of my digital life happens on my PC and 27 inch monitor.

Iphone 6, looking to upgrade to a newer Iphone. Just not sure do I wait for the 8 to buy the 7 or just go for the 6 plus so it will be cheaper.

Same here, have the Pixel XL, love the hell out of it. Came from a Nexus 6P which didn't think could be bettered.

I have an iPhone 5 but that's only because the phone was a gift. After it dies I'll be getting a Windows phone.

I don't think there will be any more Windows phones after next year.

I have had a OnePlus 3 for about a year now I like it. It's an unlocked phone, which I was a key point to me.

Maybe. OTOH, I've seen recent remarks from some high mucky muck in MS saying that they are working on something, but that it would be different than the traditional smartphone somehow. MS has some experience with creating a new paradigm (ie. The Surface), so they may have something unusual in the works. The Windows 10 S ecosystem they are trying to establish makes me think it may tie into that.

If they do come out with something, it probably won't get up to a dominant market share... but it may end up being notable for a niche market.

Meanwhile, they have been making some good moves on working with Android and IOS devices and accommodating them in Windows 10.

EDIT: Found the mucky muck quote:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/ewansp...surface-phone-design-ideas/#4f1b64845e3d
Quote
The buzz around a new smartphone from Microsoft continues to build. Although Windows Phone has now reached the end of its life, Redmond is not finished with mobile technology. CEO Satya Nadella went as far as confirming that Microsoft will “make more phones, but they will not look like phones that are there today.”

The rest of the article is worth a look. It maybe wishful thinking on the author's part...

It would be pretty hard to go wrong with that. One nice thing with a Google phone... when Google updates Android, you get it quicker than anyone else. You don't have to wait on a manufacturer or a mobile phone company to come up with their version of the update, package it, and then push it out.

Canada, eh!
Moto G, on the first gen at that. Great android phone. I can't stand Apple so if/when this dies it's not even a consideration. Like the idea of Pixel, but I'd love a phone with a really good IR camera (not a Cat S60) so it would become a good all around work tool.
