It also reminded me of one of my favorite HBO movies from back in the day. HP Lovecraft story with Fred Ward playinig a PI on an alternate Earth where magic was practiced and there were some odd creatures. It was set in the 30-40's though.

Will Smith playing....Will Smith. Just like when he played Deadshot... I mean, Will Smith.

The guy is likable, just not much range.

Not in love with the concept, but I am glad something resembling more original content is being introduced. I will definitively give it a chance.

Not that many actors have, or get to exhibit, range.
DeNiro. We see DeNiro as a pycho taxi driver. De Niro as a gangster. De Niro as an intimidating CIA father in law. De Niro as a gangster. LOL
Of course, he's had other roles, but that's the kind that stands out.
Part of it is what you get cast as, which is based on what people want to see from that person.

Don't forget Will Smith also played Ali, had a really good movie called "Seven Pounds", "Concussion" was well received as far as I remember fairly recently.
He's not a bad actor. IMO.

One heck of an offering for a Netflix original. Big budget and a cast you might have in any similar movie for the big screen.
A good bit of Alien Nation influence as expected but with a LOTR twist. If the War of the Ring was our history 2000 years ago, this movie is a look at how things might be today, plus the conflict of the main storyline.
Cool flick, better than I expected!

I really am looking forward to this one. I almost watched it today but got drug to a Christmas party. so ill watch it tomorrow!

I guess they saved on licensing costs.

Yeah, with LOTR too. They reference the Orc's allegiance to the Dark Lord way back when, which is why they're an underclass now.
