I thought John Lithgow portrayed a better representation of Churchill in 'The Crown'. Oldman didn't seem to have the gravitas in his utterances that Winnie had.

I wonder what we've had the most of? Movies and tv shows about Winston Churchill, Queen Elizabeth or QE II? Looks like QE1 takes it with 16 films, QE2 with 12, and Winston with 10. Wheels

Saw it last night.
I have no complaints, it was to me a fine movie but I doubt it will win many awards (hope I'm wrong) other than Gary Oldman definitely being in the running for best actor, IMO.
The crowd was definitely on the older side. My friend brought his 16 year old son, he was the only teen I saw. Don't think I saw anyone else under 40.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER . . . . . . . . . My wife and I enjoyed it. My only complaint was that the story ended too soon. The Movie ends just as the War starts. My wife, friends and I came out of the theater talking about whether or not there would be a sequel to cover the rest of the war.

So far as I can see from the trailer, the film covers the critical months of May and June 1940. The war was certainly well-advanced by then. You're not counting from 7 December 1941 are you? Just a joke, don't take it to PWEC please.

Something I forgot to mention, at the end of "Darkest Hour" practically everyone in the theater began clapping. I can't recall ever seeing that in a movie theater before.
