Last night, a female friend, upon hearing that I have 8 pairs of shoes, said that I should be a woman because most guys she knows only have one pair. Now, maybe most of the guys she knows are from Namibia, Myanmar, or Sudan, because even the most hillbilly of hillbillies I knew in the army had more than 1 pair of shoes, and that's not counting their issued footwear. So, how many pairs of shoes do you have? Post what types you have if you want to explain your numbers. I have:

Various not yet thrown away but unwearable shoes/trainers etc "just in case", but I know I'll never wear most of them again as they have disintegrated socks. 3-4 pairs in various corners/wardrobes.

I get through shoes fairly quickly - and store bought don't last as long as hand made ones do - I'm lucky to get 6 months out of a pair of shoes, while the one pair of handmade ones I had lasted for 8 years (with replacement soles) before they gave at the stitching.

The shoes last a lot longer than trainers do though - the last pair I had split from the sole after only 4 months of use as fencing shoes for 5-6 hours a week. I struggle with finding shoes in my size (and with a flat footbed) in any type or size so I make do with what I can obtain. Upside, they don't carry VAT - downside, they are usually not tough and long lasting - and use padding to compensate fit and form (which is the bit that wears out first).. (they are expected to be grown out of fairly rapidly after all). Not nearly as comfortable as a simple full hide unlined shoe/boot is.

Judging from the number of replies footwear is one of those subjects men repress themselves over because it's not a "manly" subject LOL. And at least we don't buy them solely because they're on sale. "BOGO - the more I spend the more I save!" SMFH. Also, "cute" or "strappy" aren't adjectives we'd ever use to describe them. Even better, our dress shoes are appropriate for both summer and winter, and if they're the right size never make our feet hurt LOL

I think a man's closet should have at least seven pairs of shoes - one for each day of the week. Another question is what models are needed in your arsenal. Here everything is very personal. Someone, for example, does not wear classical shoes, but sneakers collect with great pleasure. Someone does precisely the opposite. I am a collector of adidas yeezy boost 350 sneakers, and I take great care to ensure that they are in good condition. The logic is simple - the more shoes, the more often you change them, and the slower they wear out.

Well, I was In the Boy Scouts when I lived In Florida (Miami) and we used boots, later I was also In the C.A.P. (Civil Air Patrol) and we also used boots, so I guess It all depends on what your doing.

We buy directly from Supadance in England (made in England).

One thing many don't know, Dancing is a Man's Sport when done correctly -- and the women love you for it.

For me I put dancing right up there with watching paint dry or watching CSPAN.
