Don't think I've seen a thread for this in a while (If ever?) So I figured I would start one.

I have been getting tired of hauling my very large (albeit powerful and well liked) Acer gaming laptop to and from work. It's just too big and inconvenient. I have an Ipad Air 64gb but the wifi/bluetooth antenna failed despite the thing being cared for like a delicate baby, and Apple wanted me to pay for repairs for their design failure. I don't think I'll ever buy another Apple tablet after that experience.

My Acer will be retired to LAN gaming duty for my girlfriend or when friends come over to play Steel Beasts or some other game that needs some graphics power.

Anyway, today I got on an auction site and picked up a 12" Lenovo Thinkpad X230 for $100. NICE! I got it for well under the market price for that laptop. I particularly like the trackpoint devices so it will be nice to have, and having a keyboard is a nice change from the ipad. Image is not me by the way.

I bought my first game/sim in years. Cold Waters.

Fun so far, lots to learn.

Not today but I very recently bought this:

I actually watched this when it originally aired on PBS back in 1990!!

Good choice in laptops, they may not be all super powerful but they are well built and have lasted long.

My wife and I use Thinkpad X201T convertible laptop/tablets I got them at a great discount when the X220 came out, they were less than 1/4 of the retail price and we have been using them since 2010. I use mine for the car with a moving map and GPS positioning when I go offroad, mine is on the right on the docking station which has an extra HDD/SSD/Bluray writer bay in it.
The only thing I have changed is the batteries on both laptops which started to fail now after about 7 year of use, I replaced them last month. We are both extremely happy with them. They replaced Dell Inspiron C610 laptops which were about 5 year old, I still keep one of them as it has a serial port to interface with my telescope and it can also run the software for my MG car which newer PCs cannot do.

Have been away from Flight sims for almost a year and had sold all my controllers. Decided to get back into flying so I just ordered a TM Warthog, Oculus Rift and a set of MFG Crosswinds.

I was back in my home town last March and went to the local computer shop to get a display port to HDMI adapter for my laptop, the owner of the shop insisted that there was no such thing as a display port, he had never heard of it, so therefore it did not exist and he was a computer expert!

I was Back in the town last month and low and behold the computer shop was now closed and a for sale notice on it smile

Shame you couldn't get a proper quality HDMI cable instead:

Me, bought a pair of optical sunglasses today.

Two new stoves/ovens, one for the house, one for my parent's connecting apartment. Didn't actually buy them today, but they should be arriving in the next couple of hours.

The reason I bought the DP cable is to run my monitor while my Oculus Rift is plugged into my graphics cards only HDMI port.

You didn't check the link I posted or? wink

Soupdragon, it's carbon... that sounds quite luxury/fast/sportive really. See if you can get some Type R stickers for the washing machine.
