I'm sick of having a $58 package on directv but with add ons my bill is literally DOUBLE that each month.

Looking at hulu and slingtv as options. They offer the channels we mainly watch and even dvr now. I have an amazon fire for one tv already, prob get a 4k capable roku for the other.
If you have these services:
Any trouble streaming? Even netflix and youtube can have their bad nights.

Are there extra fees that add up that they aren't mentioning on the websites? I know you pay for dvr, and on hulu you can opt for no commercials (don't know the cost though).

Do they have a good guide or search to find shows?

Any advice?

Call Direct. Tell them how you feel. Often they will offer you a pretty substantial rate cut a year. Then use that year to figure out what you want to do, the options will probably increase over that time too.

I gave up cable tv two years ago and now only have Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video.

The thing is I was hooked on those stupid cable shows but now do not miss them at all. There is so much to watch in streaming services that I will never get bored.

Here is what I would try first to see if it works for you + do not forgot that you will now be paying more for internet only service (vs being part of a bundle)

$0.00 - over the air HDTV via antenna for all of your locals (and more)
$11.99 - Netflix Premium Plan (4K + 4 screens at a time)
$11.99 - Hulu (no commercials - so worth the extra $4)
$8.25 - Amazon Prime (Streaming, Books, Music, Shopping etc . . .)
= $32.23
+ internet plan $?
= $?

+ one of your sets of parents probably has a full boat cable plan that can you use for all of the streaming apps that the the networks, cable channels, ESPN, Fox Sports etc. have (check the set top boxes to see what apps they support before you buy one).
I am sure your parents are over at your house all the time and want to watch their favorite shows while they visit wink + you can provide them with one of your 4 Netflix screens in exchange if they need some incentive smile

If you find that does not work for you then you can try adding the different streaming cable packages that are out there, try one each month as most/all (?) are month to month: SlingTV, HuluTV, Playstation Vue (no Playstation required) and whatever else is out there.
