I have a 1995 Ford F-150 with a cassette player. My 25 y/o (and older) cassettes play just fine in it and I'm not giving them up. I would like to listen to audiobooks in mp3 format. Is it possible incorporate an auxiliary or USB port into a radio with a cassette player? The truck only has 83,000 miles on it and is in great shape so it's going to be with me for a while. If I take it to an audio shop I'm not sure the kids there are even going to know what a cassette tape is.

Might not be the solution you're looking for, but I just bring a bluetooth speaker with me in my car and use that to play music from my phone. My car only has a CD player and the CD can't even play MP3 files I could pay to have it changed to the advanced version..... but I already have a bluetooth speaker lying around unused

As long as you are willing to use your phone or other MP3 player as the actual player, there are several on Amazon, although the reviews are less than stellar.
I've been using those cassette adapters for decades, they work fine. Used to often have the need for hooking up a portable CD player into work trucks.
I imagine many phones might not make a great sound source though - last time I did it was for my mom's iPhone in her truck and it was fine, but my cheapo phone surely wouldn't sound as good.
Should be zero problem for audiobooks though.

You can either play off of your phone, OR put music/books on a memory card that it will play from independently, which is what I prefer. It broadcasts on any one of a range of FM stations, you just pick the one that works best in your area without interference. Then tune your radio into that station. Sound quality for music is not great but ok, basically like a good FM station, but with audio books in particular it would be just fine. These days these can also be used as a bluetooth mic/speaker set up for a smart phone. I use something similar in my car and it's pretty nice to have.

Blast from the past! I remember when CDs came out using one of those adapters to play CDs in a 78 Impala wagon into which I'd put a tape deck.

Thanks guys! Interesting options to consider. That FM transmitter looks interesting and I could use it in my car too. David, I bet your 350 uses OBDII system. Mine uses the OBDI and not much out there that reports real time mpg usage with the OBDI system.
