There is something about the E series 109 that strikes a chord with me... I wouldn't say it is 'beautiful', not perhaps like the smoother lined and more 'elegant' looking F and later series.

No, it has a more 'thuggish' and simplistic, pugilistic aura that appeals to my senses than any of the other later variants.

Your thoughts gentlemen, and ladies of course if any are viewing...

Yes, Trooper the Emil is the only true 109 for me too. The Battle of Britain mesmerized me as a kid - even though my uncle flew Army Air Corp (B-26).
And in true kid fashion (late 60's) I spent 100's of hours building and painting the Airfix 1/24 scale 109E and Spitfire. I just loved it getting into the history of it -
trying to get the colors right.

The E is the 109 I fly the most, but as a beautiful plane I will vote for the F's.

-Sir in case of retreat, were we have to retreat??

Way over in Perth, Western Aus...
Yes I love the E, and especially the E-1 for the uniqueness and challenge of just guns and no cannon!

The E is lovely, she was my first German kit after the Spit and Hurri as a kid and i remember thinking how small it was compared. I do prefer the Erla Haube G and later models though, a more muscle plane of the skies look smile
