Are any of you guys using an after burner detent?

I have been toying with some different ideas for an easily adjustable or removable detent for my CH Pro Throttle. But I was curious if anyone else had creative ways to deal with this.

Not sure my Warthog has AB detent but it does have idle detent and to be honest I have never ever used that smile
With the F-16 I read the fuelflow so I never felt this need to a mechanical detent.

I use the afterburner detent. Easy to put it at 100% military power and know that is where it is without looking.

Me.

I use a warthog stick and x52 pro throttle for falcon. The throttle has a soft detent (push through rather than lift over like the warthog).

I don't use an idle detent though even though the throttle has one.

The warthog throttle has a bit you can tun round so you have a lift over afterburner detent *works the same as thenidle detent) but it's awkward to use. You can shave it down a bit to make it a push through, but I haven't done that mod as it's not needed on the games I use that throttle for (dcs a10c and il2 cliffs of dover)

The x52 is a closer match to the real f16 throttle too.

I have a WH so it naturally comes with a plastic bit that can simulate the AB detent. I also prefer the "lift" method as the real F-16 isn't a "push" into AB, it's a "lift" to get into AB. I cannot imagine flying an AB-capable aircraft without an AB detent. For me, it helps me get a feel of where I am in the thrust range and sometimes, I just hit the detent to get an idea of how far away I am from it.

I also use the IDLE detent on the WH when shutting the aircraft down. As I do more shutdowns than I do startups, that's what it's most useful for.... but it's also really cool to "come out of IDLE" when doing the start procedure instead of pressing a key or switch.

Yep, it does. It's under your throttle levers smile

Yep. This shows you how to set the hardware up as it's not in use by default.

The problem is it's very difficult to do with one hand unless your throttle is bolted down.

You can shave the little red bit down so that it's a "push through" rather than a "lift" detent if you wish to modify it.

The F16 throttle works slightly different. See about 1:20 into the below video.

It lifts off to the side to get past the AB detent. Idle detent works the same way.

That was an issue I had also. I didn't want to modify the stock one so I went this route to modify one. Actually bought 1 black and 1 white one.

Was surprised that it needed no mods to be a push through. It takes effort to push through, but not enough to slide the whole throttle on the desktop.
Here's my thread on BMS with pics and a vid:

Awesome, thanks! I'd looked into getting a replacement to try the mod a while ago, still not sure I'd use it for BMS as my x52 throttle matches the real life F16 throttle pretty well, perhaps when flying a 2 engine jet in DCS it'd be useful.

For the throttles you guys have that have an AB detent, at what % of throttle is the detent at?

I'm looking to do the velcro mod to the my CH Throttle and will probably shoot for the same range.

My X52 has 2 detents

First at 25% - I have nothing set here
Second is at 75% - I have my AB set just slightly higher than this.

If you mean in-game throttle, then the detent should be at 100% throttle and anything past that is AB. If you mean the actual travel of the physical throttle, I'd say a good 2/3 is non-AB and the last 1/3rd is AB.

As for the push through mod, I'm more worried about the wear and tear on the plastic bit that's attached to the throttle....

My old TQS (FLCS) has actually two AB detents I think. They are little bumps you push the throttle through. I think it should also have an idle detent but I never noticed it, probably the plastic has worn away already. I do use it to easily find 100% mil power. An actual lift would be more realistic but I don't have anywhere to bolt my TQS to my desk (glass plate desk...). It would probably be different if I was to build an actual pit, but that's not going to happen anytime soon.

If you are talking about the Cougar, it had two detents that you could adjust. These are metal detents so I doubt it's "worn away".

I wasn't talking about the Cougar...
