OK, I think I got it. I'm in. I'll hang around while doling out questionable advice in the EU IV thread.

Saw you Moses (Howdy) smile

We're in SimHQ TS being lazy and having Falcon minimized so we missed your arrival.

25 minutes to Campaign start.

Good flyin' Oden. That mission was flawless thumbsup

Oden and I flew the opening mission of the campaign. We fragged a zero-time BARCAP with HARMs, which is becoming one of our go-to mission profiles in the early hours of the campaign. Flying the Block 40s we took off and shortly engaged a pair of MiG-17s over Kaesong. Each of us shot one down then looked for HARM targets. I took out a Square Pair and a Fansong and Oden a Square Pair and a Fire Can I believe. We then flew east after Oden got off his second missile and engaged a fourship of Il-28s west of Wonsan, Oden knocked 2 of them down and I got one, plus I added two MiG-17s soon after. We flew back and lowered through the solid deck and landed back at Osan. A great mission! Thanks Oden.

Yes,
Balkans download as per our current campaign thread:
http://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4353800/simhq-balance-of-power#Post4353800

You are very very Welcome to the server smile
If you haven't read about it yet we fly a somewhat different approach and look more at the cooperative effort to bring the campaign to win than maybe normal TE based coop sessions with all pilots in the same flight(s).

Hi Boomer, hope to see you on. If you have any questions, let us know.

As mentioned elsewhere, our server has no rules other than

1. have fun
2. kill Red stuff

Good hunting

Is anyone having trouble connecting to IVC?

I'm getting 'Looks like there is no server running or there are connectino problems'.

Hi Wildcat. Thanks for your interest. Oden is aware that there may be issues with the IVC. He will look in to it. Our Balkans Balance of Power campaign is just about done. We seem to be stuck in a consolidation phase for several days now. We will probably let it run for another day or two then start a new campaign.

You clould try to put some ground units to non-HQ and move them forward.
That might put the planning engine out of it's "lethargy".
Btw, to mark the non-HQ units/squadrons in the OOB by highlightning
was a really smart move ... Thanks Devs!

Thanks DBond, I look forward to getting online again!

This set up is ideal for me as I'm unable to commit to a weekly flight with my VFS at the moment.

Yes, sir, looking forward to you joining us.

Hi Floyd. We did give some marching orders and have taken an objective or two that way. But most are exhausted and move very slowly. We have crushed the Reds and frankly it's about time to move on, even if we don't actually get credit for the win. The campaign has been running for fifteen days.

The campaign runs up to 30 days ...
From the Readme in the Balkan doc folder:
Quote

Balance of Power
Balance of Power takes about 20 to 30 campaign days to complete.

In order for Blue to win the BOP campaign, they have to take Zagreb, Zadar, Banja Luka, Split, Mostar, Tuzla, Osijek, Sarajevo, Gornji Vakuf and Bihac.

For Red to win, they have to take Rijeka, Kranj, and Ljubljana.

I remember that in my BoP campaign the red side suddenly counter attacked with a lot of ground units.
My tactic is to rest the troops at night and attack the enemy by A2G.
Then fly BARCAPs at daytime to protect my troops. It really helps to move the "Defensive Counter Air"
slider to the right (85%). Will take a few hours to be visible in the ATO.

We need more pilots like you Floyd smile
But with the current increase in interest from players and the somewhat stale situation in the campaign we plan to kick in Korea Iron Fortress this weekend.

Please give us a shout soon if anyone think we should play this campaign all the way first.

I'm off for a few fridaybeers AW style but you guys keep targetting red units!
(say hi from me)

Yeah, and 30 days is way too long, especially since the current state of affairs means the campaign has lost the uncertainty factor. No chance of being jumped by MiGs, little chance of being ambushed by a SAM. It's basically pick a target, go drop bombs and fly home.

Yes, well don't forget this is a 24/7 server. Things are difficult to do the same way you would play single player. If you were doing the day/night thing on a 24/7 server than that is nicely done smile

When I played this offline a few weeks ago I won on day 4. It's just a different beast.

Yes, sliders are all taken care of. Red air force has been smashed for days. We haven't seen a Red fighter since Monday biggrin I'm down to hunting for helos.

Oden and I talked it over the other night and decided to give the KTO Iron Fortress campaign a shot as our next venture. It is a 5-day campaign, so won't last long. And if Blue takes the objective (Seoul) it could be over even sooner. I still think we should give it a go, but we will need everyone to be ready to go so we can win it before it's over.

It seems a good choice because the hops are relatively short, there is plenty of ATO-fragged CAP and we have a slight advantage at the start in air strength.

Whoever designed this campaign must love the Hornet, there are at least 8 squadrons deployed. Players will be hard-pressed to beat the Hornets to the kills. They carry alot of slammers.

This is not classic Iron Fortress. It is a completely different campaign. About the only thing it has in common with classic Iron Fortress is the victory objective.

Our first campaign was Tiger Spirit and that is a 5-day campaign too. So I say we should give it a shot. It won't last long, but who cares?
