A-10C came out when, 2011? We now have an almost complete, almost ready NTTR. So it's been 6 years of development on that.
How much was "active" and how much was "VERY active" I don't know, but my guess is this thing was definitely shunted aside several times, for long periods, to make it take this long and still not be release.

I interpret that comment to mean "contracts competing for development time are completed or an hold currently, we actually can devote most of the team to work on it now!" eek

Ideally they should have a full team to work on DCS World in addition to the team of people working on the other stuff, but obviously they have a single team that splits its time and we get the leftovers in their schedules.

2 Weeks ago when I posted my \Beta Link (which was jumped upon by sobek) the F-18 was not in a Beta state, meaning it was not being officially tested.....

Therefore, it is most likely in an unflyable state other than external and no doubt the cockpit functions are still being implemented.....

Yep, I made my bed and I am sleeping in it...

you read it here 1st gents.....no need to wait for the "official" mudspike review, yours truly (the unofficial tester) Winfield has given the community his "official" update on the matter

Please forward any further questions to my HR rep Nate here at SimHQ, as he is liaising between the "official" reps over at the ED forums and will be most happy to relay any information to those here at SimHQ regarding the development of the F-18C

LOL - you are actually butthurt over that comment - I did apologise, now I wish I hadn't.

EDIT:- BTW I have nothing to do with ED or the forums, you can do your own liaising.

That's the $1,000,000 question.
Its all in how you interpret this year or whatever.

We could use previous projects from ED as a benchmark

eg Straights of hormuz , was 1 month form launch in 2014 and it is still not here

So ...... very very very very very very long time away for F18

Some info from ED chitchat forum.

1 latest non-official (still ED team though) EA release date is "in this year" and not "end of this year"
2 Link16 is considered for DCS F/A-18C

Didn't they say F-18 is the next priority once Normandy is released? So I would subtract one or two "very" from that statement. smile

That's what they said last year...

Really? So much for those that use "classified info" as an excuse... also so much for the "accurate or nothing" line...

Also, "in this year" does not exclude "end of this year", does it? Either way, as long as their response to when it will be done is still in years, it's probably a bad sign, even if it is "This Year" ™.

Yeah, I never bought that argument myself either. Always sounded like a cop-out. And it was never really true anyway. You think all the systems in the A-10C you can buy from ED, including weapons performance, is modelled down to a T and there is nothing secret about it iRL? The A-10C is a very current weapons systems flying in combat theaters *right now*. Surely there is no telling whether the defensive suite or communications systems in ED's model for the desktop are 100% in accordance with the real thing.

To me that argument always struck me as trying to portray a weakness as a virtue. Like "No, we are better than all the previous flightsim devs: Instead of modelling the Apache at a 90% level of confidence, we are not modelling it at all, because that is more realistic." LOL wut?

I could understand it to some extent with the very latest planes like the F-22 or F-35, but not well established planes like the Strike Eagle, Apache etc where more than reasonable guesstimates are possible when it comes to those 10-25% "secret" system performance.

I think it will be there with very basic feature like what DCS A-10C had in EA, share posit and radar lock (or SPI) that is.

btw I think you can basically trust what Russian dev says on their forum imo.
Especially when it is said on Russian section of the forum.
