Hi everyone

I've just reinstalled EECH after a couple of years away - cant wait to get back in! I've installed EEAH and EECH and the new updates so that's great. But at the controls, where last time my FF2 joystick used to show up for throttle and mouse-look using the hat switch, they dont register anymore - could anyone tell me what I need to do, is there a change i need to make to a config file?

The reason I'm back is i've finally got a new games-capable pc to replace the one that died. But the downside is the specs are now windows 8.1 (64 bit) - in case that is relevant?

Thanks in advance for any help / ideas!

only main POV switch is used for look by default - for EO control if mouselook is enabled and vise versa. secondary pov/hat switches can't be used without external keyboard simulation software.
by throttle you mean collective? if so, not sure about that, usually all available axis appears on the list. you can try to apply it to controls manually in eech.ini (collectiven is device ID, collectiveax is axis ID).

JimmyBii , This is my experience with using the hat switch on my Saitek Flight stick for EECH.

When mouselook is set to ON in options , The Hat switch on your flightstick is automatically disabled permanently.

Set mouselook to OFF. This will allow your Hat switch to work.
Also ,don't worry ! Even with mouselook set to off , it is in fact still enabled and usable in the game.

Works with Flir and PFZ screens. Also ,if you want to switch back and forth from "Hat switch" to "mouse" in game ,simply click the middle mouse button. This will disable the Flightstick Hat and enable the mouse for use in cockpit view as well as F5 outerview. You may click it again to return to HAt switch function.
You may do this during flight as long as mouselook is set to OFF in the options menu.

You do not need to set an option for use of hat switch in settings !
The only two settings I have set for my Flightstick are Cyclic Roll and Cyclic Pitch.
Everything else is set to keyboard. Yet, My Hat switch is very much functional and EECH detects it just fine ,as long as mouselook it set to OFF.

As far as Throttle / Collective . . . Your stick should show up in the settings. Not sure why it isn't.

Thanks Powerstomp

I got the hat working now. It's really weird though - the "pedals" (in this case rotating joystick) doesnt work. And throttle (i cant see any option other than to toggle "reverse throttle" doesnt work either. I cant take off the pad

Last time I played is prob about three years ago but it worked fine then frown

I'd blame the stick but although it's old and no longer made, the FF2 is a really good piece of equipment made like a tank - although i'll admit it scores less but not looking very realistic. I'm also flying with it in Elite Dangerous (how many of you are in there too?) and it works perfectly

Anyone got any ideas, any changes in EECH.ini? I hope this isnt time for me to hand in my wings...

Don't hand in your wings !! Try using keyboard for throttle and pedals if all else fails.

I tried rotation and throttle using flightstick just to see if it worked ,and there didn't seem to be any problems. (Other than me not being used to it)
(Had to use Reverse Throttle ,but still couldnt take it below 20%) Took off fine
(How in the world do you guys maintain control ?)
Honestly ,for this game , I find it much more easy to finesse and control the helo using keyboard for throttle and rotation. Plus my hand never has to move from flightstick back to keyboard in order to hit other buttons during play.

I hope you get it worked out. Just don't want to lose another EECH pilot.

Ok, I have a similar problem. How do you turn on the RADAR, FLIR, or laser when your keyboard doesn't have a separate numeric keypad?

Do you have keys that say Home, Insert? They should be for Ground and Air radar.

I play on a laptop with a numeric keyboard, but some of the keys are out of position.

If you have a programmable joystick, you could assign some buttons to those functions.

Edit: Oh, and Delete and End should be Flir and DTV

I'll try programming them into JoyToKey. The issue is Delete and Insert share a key, requiring two hands to hold down the modifier key on the other end of the keyboard.

That definitely wouldn't work in my case since the laptop is mounted on my wheelchair. No room for a second keyboard. The Thrustmaster T-16000M is essentially on a removable bayonet mount on the side of the chair.

Ah, fair enough. Have you seen those mini keyboards you can get that just have the numpad keys? I've seen them on amazon. Could be an option?

or this, which is programmable...
