Yeah, the stock GOG PE runs menus, but the simulation part doesn't load up. I'm running Windows 7, BTW.

Russian campaigns works fine...German campaigns crash with the following error.

Do you have DirectX 9.0c installed. Before you clear the crash use alt-tab to exit PE and find the file PE/data/destertfoxlog.txt. Does that show anything objvious

When does it crash. Does it crash when you attempt to enter the camp screen for a mission or does it crash when you try to play the mission?

Sorry guys but I do not have the mod because 38Kb/s is my best download speed. If I had it, I could run it through Visual Studio and tell you exactly where and why

German campaigns work well for me, no problem at all. I just experince longer loading/switching times, but I can live with it. Thx for mod, Daskal.

Yeah, same here. The US and Russian campaign menu shows up (though I don't see any tanks in the Russian menu but perhaps it's normal as the artwork for them is missing?).

I tried the tips from the Vista thread (setting compatibility settings for multiple exe files), but it didn't help. I don't think it's Direct X 9.0c related as the US and Russian campaigns start up just fine.

Allied campaigns work in an unmodded install in Windows 7. Allied campaigns crash when attempting to enter the campaign screen with the mod installed. Below are the contents from the DesertFox.log. Russian campaigns work with mod installed.

This would have been the version released with Ostpak Redux, but there is one debug screen output still active in 18.1.2d version of rrhal.dll. Since I had to recompile rrhal, I figured I might as rebuild all of them. I am not sure if something went wrong with the build of mymenu.exe.

No go for me with the German Campaign using these zips.

German campaign doesn't work with the zip files either.

Then we will have to determine if it is the mod or the game engine at fault. You can try the binaries from PP2x.beta2 That is the game engine version that Daskal stated with. I think it is best for me to wait for tests from members of the private forum of the game engine before I make any more guesses in public.

The mymenu exe from PP2x.beta2 works in Ostfront and enables me to play the German campaign.

At All. I have just realized that campaign mode will most likely crash due to some files missing from the mod. Sinlge scenarios will load fine, but starting a Campaign will most likely crash mymenu exe. Working on a solution now.

I do not think so, because campaigns work OK for me.

The menu error log is not a crash report. It is something I added long ago to check setup screen scripts. Some missing sprites have been there since the original Ostpak. I was hoping it would catch something obvious.

33Lima seems to be unable to post here due to password reset not working. He has reported that setting Windows 98 compatibility for mymenu.exe only is working for him.


Daskel is going to upload a minimum set of files to the server so I can run the problem through VS6 and snail mail me a copy. With mailing from Germany to Detroit, that could take some time.

The mod was fully downloaded 85 times in April with 128 partilal downloads. If anyone is using the mod on Win98, WinME, or WinXP it would help me to know if you do or do not experience the campaign bug.

I'm going on Win 7.

1). Install Ostpak folder in mods folder, with a second Ostpak folder containing the game files within the first Ostpak folder. This is necessary for it to work with the supplied Mod Activator. It should take a long time to load.

2). It will not work for me at the highest resolutions. 1920x1080x16 works, as do 1600x900x32 and lower. 1920x1080x32 does not work.

3). I cannot get German campaigns to work with the mymenu exe supplied with the Ostpak. I replaced it with the mymenu exe from PP2x, linked above by Brit44 Aldo. This allows me to play the German campaign.
