I am running "normal" claim submission in my campaign. But I am noticing something odd. My claim count does not match the number of claims I have submitted.
Currently in my Esc 23 campaign I have submitted 10 claims. (6 confirmed 4 rejected) however, on my pilot main page it says 6 confirmed kills and 13 claims...13? Where are these extra claims coming from? Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy?

Could it be that you have some recent claims that have not yet been processed by headquarters? (i.e. 6 confirmed, 4 rejected, and 3 pending?)

It has happened to me on every pilot that I've ever had and I have a theory on what causes it. I've noticed that on the normal setting if I go out and shoot down two planes but only claim one then somehow the system still credits me with the second as well. I did a bunch of testing on this about a year ago and of course I can't remember many of my findings, but suffice it to say, it happens frequently.

I have started a career with a phantom claim. Rejected. Obviously.

I think it's WAD - part of the AI 'survival' instinct.

Look at it from the AI's point of view: It knows it is only 'alive' when you're playing the game. It doesn't want you to get discouraged and quit, so occasionally it will file false claims on your behalf to make you feel better about your piloting skills.

Here is the example I am speaking of. As you can see clearly. I have submitted 10 claims. 6 confirmed and 4 rejected. But at the bottom of the page it shows 13 claims with 6 confirmed. Head-scratcher...

Just a little game bug. That sometimes happen even in better software. Nothing to worry about. Look at it as an adjutants typo or wrong calculation.

It's also possible you may have been able to claim for 2 when you only claimed for 1 and that other may get counted. Anyway as JJJ says sometimes people make mistakes.

A little OT, and possibly well known by everyone but me, but the other day I fought an Alb D in my BIFF campaign. I claimed it as an Albatros D.V. When I later looked at the screenshots I'd taken--in the heat of battle, not while pausing the sim--I was shocked to see it was clearly and unmistakably an Albatros D.III. The claim was confirmed anyway. The cool thing is that in my logbook, it's listed as an Albatros D.V, although it 100% was a D.III. I think it's cool that things aren't so finite with the program that there is some real-world leeway and forgiveness for erroneous heat-of-battle identification. I claimed a D.V, had a witness, it was the only Alb shot down in the area, so I got the victory, and it was logged as I had claimed. You see that all the time in actual combat reports versus what was actually shot down.

Thanks for the replies all. I did not start the thread as a gripe, more just curious about the claims system. I love the added immersion from filing a claim and the few days waiting to see if it is confirmed.
I have been focused on 'surviving' rather than becoming the worlds top ace, so many of my encounters end with both combatants turning for home to fight another day. I LOVE that the AI doesn't simply fight until killed.
Cheers all.
