Vacation dreaming, have not had a day off since Oct. 18th last year. Thinking this will be my time for resignation. My Jail term is completed. Nothing in life should involve this much internment and be considered employment. 24 years now, have wasted so much of my life I can never recover. lost over 1.5 years if vacation time. Plus the fact we are suppose to get one weekend a month off. have not seen one of them in 3 years. Have not seen my mother in 5 years and she lives only 100 miles away. Not that she is on the top of list to see.I just need my freedom.
When having a bad day and feeling a bit sorry for myself I just watch this little video. https://youtu.be/IVy8tz54_JA

Being retired 6 years now sometimes time just drags along..I read,Listen to music,Play flight sims and wargames..When I find time hanging I grab my dog make us a couple sandwiches and head into a small patch of woods nearby and enjoy the day,,I think the worse trap to fall into is sitting around doing nothing but watch TV..Most of the time it's on but the sound is off and CC turned on..History Channel,,Discovery..Military Channel..No News outside of 1/2 hour local news in the AM.Not an exciting life but peaceful

By focusing on what's important. Every day is a gift.
The stroke I had 7 MAR 2017 helped me prioritizing that little list.

You guys are depressing me!
This is the day the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Seriously, be contented and strive to have no anxiety at all. It's hard. I know. Instead of looking at what you missed, or lost out on, think of what you have experienced and enjoyed and with which you've been blessed.
I've been writing them down and that helps when I get sour.
Prayers for y'all this morning!

Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Matthew 5:11
Indeed we call blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, because “the Lord is compassionate and merciful. James 5:11

Not meant to be a depressing thread. I'm not. This song just came up on pandora and reminded me of folks helping us thru some difficult times. Hard to be depressed when it's springtime in North Carolina - simply beautiful!

Still lurking about
Good luck coasty. I hate MRIs, because I have a very hard time lying (laying) absolutely still for 40 minutes (even in my sleep). I usually lay there imagining I am flying a mission from IL-2 1946 or Strike Fighters. Makes it go by faster.

I would love for a demographic analysis of SimHQ to be made. I'd be curious to see what the median age of the active member is and I'd guess that median age is probably between 40-45.

I just find it really fascinating because like what Weasel Keeper mentioned earlier, it really does show you to some extent what kind of gamer is still bothering to play military flight sims. It really has become a super-niche market.

Short term (daily): Knowing that at the end of the day, when my wife walks through the door, at the very least I'm going to get a good kiss.
Short term (weekly): Friday date night.
Long term: Cool events on my calendar to look forward to. Might be a concert or performing arts, a day at a museum or zoo, or an airshow like this past weekend. About once a year we like to spend a couple of days or so in another city, usually in another state, if just to get away for a little while.
What makes me feel old...
Caring that a shot of vodka has almost 100 calories (add another 100 for the orange juice if you enjoy Screwdrivers).
Monitoring headphone volume and taking music breaks to prolong what's left of my tinnitus-filled hearing.
Choosing foods based on charts like this one...
...and knowing it's likely just as much placebo effect as it is nutrition (I'm doing X,Y and Z so I can't possibly fail...lol).
Burying my mother-in-law (whom I was very close to) after watching her mind disintegrate, and now watching my parents aging.
My continued reverence for 8-track (since at one time it was all I had) and especially cassette (LP to metal tape using good equipment). Tape hiss and the occasional vinyl popping brings music to life!
That Rush has retired from touring.
