Yeah, looks interesting. But why so few screenshots this close to release. Would like to have seen at least one Sherman. Or a Grant. Don't think I saw a single tank. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place.

I see the troops and equipment just shipped over from the states. They'll have to work on their desert camouflage.

I have a beta copy and Andrey via Strat First say its ok to post some screens. Only have a couple hours under the belt so far and still forming opinions. So far the one I am sure about is I don't like sand storms. biggrin Tanks come out of no where in those things.

I'm going to watch this and see what you guys think of it. One thing, though. I hope that they don't overdo it with the Tigers. WW2 tank games tend to do that. As far as I know, the Tiger was just hitting the scene as the war in North Africa was winding down. The PZKW Mk 4 was still the German army's main battle tank at that time. I don't even think that the Panther was there in large numbers.
I'd love to see them move on into Sicily and then Italy. Wouldn't that be great? Normandy and France is getting a bit overdone. Don't you guys think so?

And, by the way. Mechanic, the U.S. was woefully unprepared for World War Two. I've never seen a photo of a G.I. in North Africa wearing any sort of desert camo. What you see on these game figures, was it.

1000 percent on the tigers. In this case its just s.Pz.abt 501's. Cause they where here in this battle blowing a giant hole in everything. And they have their little brothers the panzer IIIN's like they are suppose too. german tank choices are the same as in Muis pretty much. All the panzer 3 and 4 models. Although its a mix of panzer 4F1's and F2's. Since I am playing at beginning of German campaign my Tigers are doing what they did and are suppose too right now, brake threw. And I lost some to massed Shermans in a sand storm. i don't think that happened in this battle. winkngrin

So far I think its going to play out like Germans are gonna be easy for the win. US is going to be hard. If you follow the historical battle there is not a huge amount of hope to win. US was way spread out all over the damned place. You condense your lines down in the OP map I think its doable. And the campaign is 18 turns. There is more than enough time to do this. And the desert is typical Gravi. Satellite elevation data so the desert rolls like its suppose too. Meaning you can go hull down and dig in. Not to mention all the infantry about. They are not totally helpless. Plenty of anti tank guns. Puny ones... but well... they can get lucky.

Oh and the OP map is HUGE. Biggest ever for Gravi. I have to check but its like 20km by 18 or something like that. You can quickly see on the OP map the US positions are crap. Fredendall was an idiot and micromanaged placement of forces from a bunker 80 miles away by a map. And would not let the local commanders who saw the danger redeploy to something doable. But there is no reason as player to do that. You can put the middle finger to that idea and do some alternate history. That is my plan when I get there.

Do to 1mb limit of screens and all I have to throw into photoshop and that is annoying. As i plow along i'll post more screens, shrink them a tad and JPEG them up.

I've never tried any of the Graviteam's tank games. Is it a turn based strategy game, only, or can you play it as a tank sim?

Oh. Game has two layers. An operation phase that is turn based. Move units around attack stuff, get attacked etc. This over a broad map. From there the battles generate. They brake down into 3km by 3km usually and fight your little buggers in the tactical battle. It plays out from here i real time with pause. All campaigns are based off of historical records of actual fights. Sort of ends like a more "realistic" RTS. No stupid hit points location damage, moral, surrenders all that junk.

Some more and some thoughts.

Germans are perfect for new players to the Graviteam Tactics series of which this might as well be. Its fun and forgiving IMO. As this battle is Sidi Bou Zid it seems to be doing a good job of representing the flow of battle or at least the starting positions of US units. Keep in mind only taking the beta version for a spin and gave Germans a go first. I have not played US yet and probably be DAYS before I get there. Only on turn 3 and there 18 turns and I seem to be getting 3 or 4 battles a turn so you can do the math there. I deviated from German battle plan by punching 7th panzer into the Northern strong point. I wanted to see the hills at Dj lessouda (see screens with the big hills/mountains in them). biggrin Great battle there, even if totally lope sided. REALLY want to play US campaign now. As deployed its probably unwinnable. But this game, like Mius, Op star and Kharkov 1943 there is no reason to sit there and play the historical battle if you choose too. Probably end up trying both fight the historical fight and "my" way. US side should give veteran Mius and GTOS players a real challenge. A good thing I think.

Side note, I blew up John Waters command post a day early. OOPS. Sorry Patton, I accidentally blew up your son in law. Can you tell? I am having fun.

Hey FlashBurn, did they address the issue with line of sight and artillery? Andrey said that it was going to be relaxed a bit in the next update, and I am curious if you have noticed any positive change in that area?
